Fireplace design - Cottage addition design dilemma :)
Comments (8)Please ignore the 'pro' debby downer, who can't seem to say anything positive about anything. IMO! Will the paneling be vertical or horizontal? I really like the stone to the ceiling in your rendering. If you imagine what will go above the mantel (no tv but likely you will need large artwork because of the scale), if you stop the stone and do paneling above the mantel, then add art on that, you'll get a bit of a chopped up look - 3 materials (stone, wood, art) instead of just 2 (stone, art). I also think it will look nice from the upper floor to have the stone all the way up. If you hang art above the mantel, I don't think the tall stone look as imposing; above the painting will not be dominating, as your eyes will focus on the art and the fire. I've been looking for inspiration pics with cedar paneling and stone fireplaces on a vaulted wall, but they are hard to find....See MoreDesign dilemma--bathroom remodel
Comments (8)These are great ideas, ACM. Thank you! I have thought of many of the ideas that you pictured, but what I can't seem to figure out is how to make those kinds of images look good inside a bathroom. To me they all feel like they belong in a closet. So here's what i'm thinking...I'll create the doorway into the office, with the long term goal of making it into a packing/staging closet, and for now I'll use some office counterspace for packing/unpacking and I can keep some of my luggage and accessories there. Bravo! Your suggestion that I might not need a separate makeup area is true. Currently my partner has 90" of vanity and I have 48" and I am the one with all the 'stuff'--makeup and brushes and hair supplies and face creams. That said, his stuff--pill bottles and eye drops and nasal spray and lotion + sunscreen--is spread out all over the place, all the time. I had thought about keeping a separate makeup area just so I don't have to share his 'stuff' space, because the disorganization drives me crazy. But maybe if we have 2 separate vanities I will worry about that less. Perhaps enlarge the shower or put a very large linen closet in the area where my makeup are was in the old plan. You're a great brainstorm partner. Many thanks!...See Moredesign dilemma for living room
Comments (13)Do you have three dots at the bottom right of each of your postings? If so those dots offer an edit function. I agree as suggested above add solar shades and exchange the sofa for the TV and stand. That would change the sofa configuration to an L shape. That way you would have a straight on viewing if you placed the TV across from the window. You could even make the TV a gallery wall for interest. A longer credenza under the TV might look very nice. The other option that came to mind is putting the TV on the wall opposite the windows and putting a chair or two on that same wall angled for conversation. The reason I thought of that is because the sofa figuration that you have now is nicely conducive to conversation. In that case you could possibly hang the TV on the wall without a credenza or with a very minimal credenza and have more room for chairs and the two sofas. Perhaps one sofa might have to go but I don't know the measurements. Measurements help greatly in these situations for people trying to help you. :-). Good luck!...See MorePlease help with design enclosing breezeway - design dilemma
Comments (5)Without the measurements that a pro would know to provide, there is no possible offering of a solution. That a pro would not need offered. I suggest you contact an actual design pro to do an as built for the space, and then use their services to space plan what is a very expensive project....See Morehowistyle
