Hood design dilemma - kitchen designers please help
Comments (13)Holly are you saying i have to replace all of the crown in the kitchen? I am not trying to save anything between the 2 windows where the range area is currently. I am ok with the expense and have already gotten the quotes from the cab company and for the modernaire hood insert. But for the cost I want to be sure want to be sure about not using the vv96 in that area and the staggered cabs. I know what I have is really nice, it is just not what I want....See MoreFireplace design - Cottage addition design dilemma :)
Comments (8)Please ignore the 'pro' debby downer, who can't seem to say anything positive about anything. IMO! Will the paneling be vertical or horizontal? I really like the stone to the ceiling in your rendering. If you imagine what will go above the mantel (no tv but likely you will need large artwork because of the scale), if you stop the stone and do paneling above the mantel, then add art on that, you'll get a bit of a chopped up look - 3 materials (stone, wood, art) instead of just 2 (stone, art). I also think it will look nice from the upper floor to have the stone all the way up. If you hang art above the mantel, I don't think the tall stone look as imposing; above the painting will not be dominating, as your eyes will focus on the art and the fire. I've been looking for inspiration pics with cedar paneling and stone fireplaces on a vaulted wall, but they are hard to find....See MoreKitchen Design dilemma - how best to extend kitchen to dining area?
Comments (6)I would not do the open shelves and just run the glass dor cabinets across the back wall around the window and then the lowers as you show. I assume you are planning to paint the old cabinets and if that is the case I would do anew cabinet to match the one on the other side of the range and then begin the glass door ones into the DR . That makes the DR another space visually . I see you are changing the island too that is a good idea. Any more help will need a to scale floor plan of the whole space showing the window doorways where those lead and done on graph paper . We need every measurement clearly marker the drawing posted here in jpeg format and DO NOT start another post...See Moreexterior design dilemma
Comments (3)Deep rounded garden beds extended several feet out from the building will not only camouflage the foundation/window wells, it will give you something beautiful to look at from inside. Honestly, throw some money at beautiful landscaping--big grasses, spreading shrubs, some perennial flowering plants. Here's a This Old House link about planting for all seasons so you always have something to look at: https://www.thisoldhouse.com/gardening/21015382/foundation-planting-basics...See MoreMaria Tsompana
