Help me with my off-center fireplace
Comments (10)I agree with snookums-get rid of the raised hearth. That might help. Why on earth would a builder do that? Sheesh. We have a center fireplace (chimney is in center of house and not on a wall) and the firebox is not centered in the brick chimney either on the main floor or downstairs. It makes me nuts. I just don't get it. you could also camouflage it some by eliminating that mantle, adding a box in the wall for wood and putting up a mantle above both that is just a shelf type without the side supports....See MoreOff center fireplace - need help with mantel placement
Comments (2)Have you considered no mantel at all? If you were to remove the raised hearth and the current mantel, then do your stacked stone all the way to the floor, it would give it a cleaner, more modern look. Because I couldn't sleep and decided to take the opportunity to think more about your fireplace . . . Many of these asymmetrical fireplaces have a niche to the side for logs. I know you can't manufacture such depth, but the addition of the stone will give you a little depth, and you could play with that. Assuming you do away with the raised hearth, you could even cover a portion of the existing brick on the left with drywall or panelling of some kind so that the fireplace itself would be symmetrical....See MorePlain wall, off center fireplace, please help?
Comments (7)Agree with gracie01. Move TV to console on left of FP. Make sure the console is at least 2/3 the width of the space from the corner to the FP and center it in that space. Hard to tell but I think I would go with a much larger rug so the recliners are on it or pull the recliners in so the walkway is behind them...See MoreHelp with French Living room layout with off center fireplace
Comments (14)You have enough room for two three seat sofas and a couple of smaller scale arm chairs. Take a look at the below diagram to see if it's something that would appeal to you. It's got two eight foot sofas and a large area rug that defines the entire seating area. One sofa is served by cubed coffee tables, the other by a larger table with an ottoman underneath for casual extra seating. See below example. If the arrangement will work for you, get some blue painters tape and map out the furniture on the floor to make sure the sizing will fit....See Moreacm
