OMG, what an ordeal. You live a golden life to have so many angels surrounding you. Happy to hear you're mending well.

How have the kitties been through it all?

The cats have been great. Totally unfazed by all the appliances and walker clumping around. As I had a lot of visitors the cats were friendlier than normal, even total strangers (to them). I might even say they have enjoyed this phase of my life a little too well. Cats are weird but how I love them.

What a journey! Thank goodness you are healing well, probably a testament to your active life style. Hope your recovery continues apace and you can start your longer walks again soon.

So sorry to know this happened to you. Really glad your 79 year young leg has healed so nicely!! Keep healing and mend up stronger than you knew you could!

I have always had a hard time asking for help. I'm sure many of you can relate. I did reach out to folks for rides to appointments. However, I was amazed and humbled by the offers of help that just rolled in ("hi, I'm in Whole Foods, what can I get for you?"). There is no way in this life I can ever repay all the kindness extended, but I can model their acts of kindness and, once back on my feet (har har) I will be one of those driving people to appointments and doing their dishes, etc.

Bunny, i think you’ve always had a good heart, which is why peple rallied around you.

I agree with Sheesh, that you must be a delightful person and good friend to have the same in your life. Hope the healing continues and your walks do too soon enough

I agree with sheesh, you have a fundamental goodness about you and that's why people want to help. So glad that hopefully the worst is now behind you.

Aww Bunny, I'm glad you are on the mend but it sounds like it was rough for a while. I'm not the least bit surprised that you have a community family that rallied around you. I am 100% positive that you have done the same for others over the years.

Gosh, Bunny, you really have been through it! Sorry i missed all this the first time too, and am very happy your leg is mending so well. You must be a wonderful person with great neighbors to have so many willing to give assistance like this. Continue to heal and be well!

Well that's a story and a half! No doubt your healing is linked to your overall healthy lifestyle and activity, and your lovely helpers are linked to your caring nature. Glad you are on the mend and I know you are ready to be back to normal activities.

Bunny, I had no idea either. You always have such a great outlook and are an inspiration to all !! Please keep us posted on how you'd doing.

My next door neighbor and I have side by side mailboxes on the same post. She started bringing my mail over and now I just hear her as she walks in the front door everyday: "BUNNY! Mail. It's mostly junk." She even provides a screening service. :)

Confession: I haven't locked my front door since I got back from LA with a broken leg, even at night. I feel safe on my street and figure if I got in a fix I would rather someone be able to get in and help me without breaking down my front door.

Now, if there were bears in my neighborhood....Kidding.

Glad to hear you’re mending well. Keep going! Maybe entrust a neighbor with a key or hide one outside. You would want someone to get to the kitties if you ever get taken to the hospiral and can’t get a key to someone. I changed my locks to pushbutton combo. You can give someone their own code but can delete it if you ever feel the need.

Two nextdoor neighbors have keys, as well as a friend a few blocks away. I’ll resume locking the front door eventually

Side note: Several lovely people sent me flowers. I discovered, or at least finally acknowledged, that I can't abide the smell of flowers in my house. I don't know if it was the injury doing a number on me, but whenever I'd pass them, they smelled foul. So I gave them away to friends who happened by. Love the smell of flowers outdoors, not indoors.

I'm so sorry to hear this Bunny! Unfortunately, I know exactly what you are going through. I fractured my tibia plateau almost 2 years ago. It's been a journey.
