My exterior house has the blahs. Needs a refresh!
Comments (25)Well the pavers are out of our budget, so we are looking at refinishing the concrete. The painter actually shown us a Faux wood finish for the garage door, but we were uncertain about the look. Still working on the trellis.. The landscaper comes this week to help with the yard....See MoreSuggestions for a white trim color for a red brick house?
Comments (5)Barncatz, I didn't know what we were doing with the windows when I was sampling colors, so unfortunately no. I think I need to coordinate the trim with the windows. I'm going to order some colors from Samplize and look into finding a designer. Westhightland pulls too much yellow next to the window white sample. Even so, you were so right to pick it for your house, so you didn't end up with the primer-y look! D Bee, working with a designer is a very good idea. I've had so-so experiences with designers before, so I don't currently have one that I trust. I'll look into finding a designer. I agree that could really help me avoid some mistakes. Thanks for your kind words. We call it a porte cochere, so basically a car park, but it's actually too tight a fit for modern cars to use on daily basis- lol! I still like it. Thank you both!...See MoreHelp refreshing the exterior of 1957 brick ranch home?
Comments (6)I like both bricks but not together. I would have to paint one of them with a Romabio masonry product. Can the downspouts be re-located to not be so much of a feature? Does your climate require the storm door or can it be eliminated so a new door will be a feature? Put larger new numbers on the wider bit of wall right of the door. With the right landscaping you won't need a wreath or planters. Unless required by law, I wouldn't add railings. However, consider making the area more useful with a larger patio style porch and broad steps. Definitely do not use stones for mulch! They will get hot and will take years to remove if you want to change them. I know from experience; they really dig in, even over landscape cloth. My landscape professor swore by natural colored cypress mulch which deters insects and degrades nicely into the soil over time....See MoreAttn Color Experts! Seeking suggestions for white paint
Comments (6)BM Simply White for the warmer tones in the home. I have it on my walls and it's a nice neutral white, neither warm nor cool. if you want to enhance the cooler tones in the Bathroom, Try Oxford white, Decorators white, Chantilly Lace or SW Pure White. Since you are using 3000K lights (that's pretty dim) everything is going to have yellowish/pink tones. You don't want to use a white that leans very warm or yellow. Here is my room w/Simply White on the wall and the trim (one in eggshell the other in semi gloss). Window faces south/west my table lamp light is about 3000K or so, and you can see the warmer hue it gives to the wall. In this pic my ceiling light is 4000K. You can see the diff between the two light sources and what it does to the paint color. The white w/this lighting looks a lot crisper, but still not overly blue or cool. Do not use White Dove. I tired that first in this room. horrible...See Moremichaelmm123
