Only certain varieties of sweet corn will have their flavor affected by a nearby field corn planting. These are the ones labeled "super-sweet," "sugar-enhanced," etc. That's why some of the advice above is incorrect -- though it would be true for "ordinary" vegetables (and non-enhanced varieties of sweet corn, for that matter). You could try timing your planting to avoid cross-pollination, but I wouldn't rely on starting indoors; direct-sown corn catches up quickly to transplanted. Or simply plant a variety of sweet corn that doesn't become starchy if cross-pollinated. Some people prefer these; their disadvantage is that the corn must be eaten very quickly after harvest, while the enhanced varieties can keep their sugar for days. What is under your sand, Zackey? More sand, or a little silty or clayey material? Most of central fla, like polk county, under the sand "topsoil", which averages about 1% om, is more sand. Under that is more sand. Water and nutrients have no place to fetch up. Contrast some areas of north florida, like some of the panhandle, and IME some of the Alachua county area, where there can be silty- clayey deposits under the sand. There corn is more realistic. Indeed, north florida had cotton plantations on the best lands, so we know that there are some good spots. Peninsular fla is not that way with few exceptions, other than the muck basins.

I never grew Bodacious before..., I planted my Sugar Dots Corn in Mid March directly in-ground, and some started to show tassels while they were about 30" or so. I thought that the tassels were coming out too soon, but they look alright now. At present, they are about 6' tall and tassels are all opened up, and many have corn ears with silk flowing out of them. They all look pretty normal.

I'm thinking too little. It's really strange, some of the corn I have is growing quite fine, one is already 6 feet tall. The others are about 2-3 feet tall but they already have tassels. The six foot tall one didn't develop tassels until it was about 5 feet tall. I fertilized each one of them equally so I don't know what could be the problem
