A Mauve or Lavender Rose
Comments (24)I had Blue Chip and am replacing it. It died from the Easter 07 freeze. Plant is compact, repeat flowers fairly quickly, flowers prone to bull-nosing and burning in our hot summer heat. Otherwise, it is a nice florist's rose for the garden. Seven Seas almost perished from the freeze. It has many ruffled petals but is not very vigorous. Shocking Blue almost perished from the freeze, but it is trying to come back. It was doing fairly well. I actually did get some small sprays. Vol de Nuit I had at my other house in Washington. Flowers were okay; I thought it was an average rose for that climate. Can't speak to a hot, humid climate for that rose. Blue Bayou I had to plants. The grafted one perished in the big freeze; the own-root plant barely hung on. I am getting another one of these also. Flowers are very silvery and have more of a pale blue cast to them when compared to some of the other lavenders which have more red to their color. I have not seen any large sprays on this variety either. That is all the comments I have on your list....See MoreLavender Lassie made me happy today !
Comments (10)I didn't know she could look that beautiful. Thanks for sharing that with us. It's a gift to have some roses inside I think. Sometimes I take some fragrance roses to a lady that runs a storage yard where we used to have a boat. She lives there all alone and has no plants there except for a few houseplants in the office and in her trailer. It makes her so happy when I bring roses on my way to somewhere....See MoreComparing a few lavender toned roses
Comments (24)Cori Ann I agree with your Husband, Love Song looks so extraordinarily sniffable, but it isn’t very scented at all...very tricky indeed! I told myself I’d never grow a non-fragrant lavender, but it’s so lush and beautiful, I ended up planting one. Shannon, I can’t provide a beautiful lavender bench palette like Cori Ann, but since I love both Heirloom and Melody Pafumee here they are for comparison: Heirloom: Melody Parfumee (I rather prefer the name Violette Parfumee since she is a rather unique shade of violet, and doesn’t sing): I love that both bloom like it’s the End of the World unless every possible flower is produced. Heirloom is a bit more plum, Melody more violet. Both very fragrant, Heirloom more raspberry, Melody more lemon. Heirloom is more old fashioned in form, Melody modern. Heirloom repeats faster, Melody lasts longer. Both probably need to be sprayed in a humid environment. I’d hate to choose between them, I think you need them both :-)...See MoreLavender Lassie rose
Comments (42)Kathy, yours is absolutely beautiful. I remembered yours being huge. I do have a spot like your size on a plot btw my neighbor and me. I am still debating and have to amend soil there if I want it transferred there by Spring. Perma, I had some sort of greenish eggs underneath the leaves. So, I was washing Ebb Tide with soapy water then as I bend the the older branches a young shoot broke off from neighbouring branch. Now, it is a cutting. A good 8 inches long, I think maybe even 9. I will let you know how it turns out. That just happened like a few hours ago..haha...See Moreoursteelers 8B PNW
