Very strange but there might be something to a rename thing. Trophytaker series has Jen Melon as Jen Melon. Oakes does not list their own Jen Melon but list Star Struck and is listed as Star Struck in the All American series. Why market one with one name in one series and then rename it in another series makes no sense to me, but it becoming to look like Jen Melon and Star Struck are one and the same. Whatever it is, it's a beauty. I have a feeling the Starstruck in my garden is Jen Melon aka Star Struck. One would think the industry could market a daylily under one name especialy if the reason for the name change is 'more marketable name' but then continue to market it under two names. Well I picked up my new roses and one by one they have bloomed. From the 5 new roses I ordered: Anna’s Promise - Her color is very close to Nancy Reagan but the bloom shape was a little strange on a couple of the blooms and it did blow quite fast. Once I know how tall it gets I'll find a place for it... Big Momma - For some reason she doesn't even have taller canes or buds yet after 2 months... Looks exactly as it did when I picked it up. Beautiful leaves, so perhaps she needs more sun than the others to get going... Dark Night - This one may be heading into the trash bin - Beautiful initial bloom for about 12 hours and then the form falls apart and it fades to a very unattractive color. I'll give it one more bloom cycle. Twilight Zone - WOW - Ebbtide 2.0. I'm going to experiment with this one as far as to which rose is superior. Very impressed so far though. Love Song - The winner. This will be the rose I will plant for my mother. My jaw dropped when the entire bush bloomed at once. All of those perfect sweet ruffly blooms. (This pic was a couple of days later.) Going to put it right outside my bedroom window where Neptune died after battling it out with Dr. Huey for 2 years.

Not much shaking with the T-fal chicken fryer that I use. I give it two or three shakes, total, with every batch just because. I remember the popcorn popping pan of my youth and how it had to be shaken furiously so old habits die hard. Those old Wear-ever pans like Cindy's are real quality-- thick aluminum; my old T-fal aluminum chicken fryer--no where near the quality of vintage WearEver--does have a fairly thick bottom also. One thing about stovetop popcorn that I've learned---this is going to depend on your stove--is that I get a better popcorn if I cut back on the heat a bit. I get a better pop--bigger kernels and fewer old maids--by popping it over a medium-ish heat.
