Home remedies for rust patches/spots on cactus
Comments (6)Rust colored spots on succulents is usually due to sunburn or rot/fungus. The spots are permanent and the only solution is prevention. Avoid sudden increases in light to prevent sunburn, and make sure plants have a porous soil and that any above ground surfaces dry quickly to prevent rot. Air movement, sun, and heat will help plants dry off quickly....See Morebig rust spot on the S. Moonshine leaf
Comments (10)I went to pull the leaf out. (To remind everyone, it's just a rooted leaf; I was waiting for a baby to pop up from under). When I pulled up on the leaf, there was significant resistance - not the "rooted leaf" sort of resistance, but felt like "there's a rhizome in there" sort of resistance. So, I cut the leaf off close to the ground instead of pulling harder. Hoping maybe there IS a baby growing under ground. Is this sort of rust likely to transmit to the baby? If it's overwatering (which is quite possible), then no, I guess. Can it be fungus?...See MoreWho here uses Bayer 3-in-1 on their sansevieria?
Comments (19)Nothing great in jades, crassula ovata variegata and crassula ovata. Not really a jade but I also have a crassula campfire . They look terrible, it's so frustrating. I sprayed them too. For many years I had a lot of small leaf jades and some gollums (didn't know they were called that at the time) I had a large small leaf, tons of smaller pots of both kind. I lost them all one summer when our dog had an amputation for bone cancer. I was focused more on him than my plants (they were outside)....See MoreSansevieria hahnii 'Jade Dwarf'
Comments (3)Karen Maybe incorrect watering? I am just guessing, not an expert on sans (not an expert on anything, haha). I ended up with 6 pots after dividing. They are all in exactly same mix, and watered at the same time. One is not making it - just about dead...Others look good and are growing offsets too. Maybe it had some problems from day one, I am not sure. They could use more light, but I do not have space on windowsill or under lights, so they have to wait :) I read that underwatering will cause leaves to wilt and be limp - that's what it may be in your case. I hesitate to water my 'goner' more often, since others are ok. I think I'll take mine out of the mix and see what the condition of roots is. How often do you water yours? I do about 1x/week - 10days, depending how warm or cool it is (even indoors, I get quite a bit of fluctuation in temps)....See MoreRockdale (RI Z6)
