Sorry for the super late reply, I've been really busy at work Yeah, I'm really concerned about the Scheff. It still looks the same. I was also thinking that the leaves aren't getting any water. When I repotted it, I didn't clean the roots which I think was one of the main mistakes I made. There also weren't a lot of roots, like it wasn't stringy roots like the ones from my flowers in my flowerbeds. I think another mistake I might have made was I used top soil instead of potting soil because I thought...well dirt is dirt, right? lol But from what I've read online maaaaybe I should have spent a little more for potting soil lol I did get rid of all of the dirt/mud from before. So I'm thinking.....maybe I need to repot it again using potting soil and clean the roots and maybe it will survive. I'm just kind of lost and frustrated but I really want the plant to live :( Btw, the Pothos is still looking great and is still growing new leaves so at least I saved it lol

I had a similar situation to you - I tried to propagate a schefflera I received from a funeral - and foolishly took just a cutting off a petiole before I understand the biology of the plant enough to realize that it was a petiole and not a "branch". It looks like I might have taken mine a month or two after yours. It took a very long time to see much happening below, but given that the leaves weren't withering and looked healthy I hadn't given up -- and as of this morning I looked at the bottom of the plastic dixie cup I stuck it in to root and was surprised to finally see the tail ends of some roots poking around. So I believe the petiole CAN root, if you're lucky - I just have no idea what that means for the plant after it establishes a root base. I'm pretty sure the petiole/leaf structure at the top is not going to do much else, so my hope is that the roots eventually send up a new trunk/stem along side it. Time will tell. Hopefully by now you've determined if you have similar luck with your petioles.

Solids dissolved in water don't gas off like CO2 does, so as water evaporates, the level of dissolved solids increases, which is a backward step, even if small. Your pot has a drain hole - yes? Are you allowing your plant ti sit in the effluent that exits the drain hole? Your pot should be situated so it's always above the effluent that drains into the saucer - so there is no pathway by which the effluent can make its way back into the saucer. One way to set it up:I'm not convinced you're not over-watering. The leaves that are malformed are likely the result of a culturally induced Ca deficiency. Too much water in the soil makes Ca uptake difficult. Even if the soil feels dry 2 knuckles deep, it can be wholly saturated at the pot bottom. Using a 'tell' is a very effective way to stay informed about what moisture levels are deep in the pot. The shedding of new leaves also goes hand-in-hand with over-watering. Are you fertilizing regularly? Examine the plant closely for scale and mites, either of which (as Dave notes) can cause the symptoms (other than the malformed leaves) shown. If no evidence of the bugly uggers, look to root health as the aspect most likely to need your proactivity. Lots of tips/advice here. Al
