Comments (9)What I've found is they won't go after any of my more established roses, they demolished some of my smaller own roots that aren't bouncing back. Cutting the bottom out of a pot and slipping it over or around (cutting a side as well) works. A few weeks ago, I was looking at all of the growth, stepped into the garden to fix a clematis vine on Gertrude and what jumped? a tiny rabbit. I chased him back & forth, then it turns out there was another. They did not want to leave, and I really didn't want to hurt them, some how I got them out of there. Yesterday I went in the basement to do something. I go to the left and what am I greeted with? A SNAKE wrapped around a brown bucket my hubby has down there. I'm not a sissy girl, I hate snakes. This is the 2nd one down there, 1st one was tiny, this one was over 2 feet. Thankfully my son came home to help me. Since he got a better look, he's going to find out if it's poisonous of not. It did not look like the 1st garden snake. Give me rabbits in the garden any day. Now I have to worry about stepping on snakes....See MoreLimey Lisa, Peanut, Blue Mouse Ears. Feedback?
Comments (19)I am in zone 5, and my 5 GEs are doing wonderfully. I mix a small bucket of leaf mold into the hole, plant them high, give them water, fertilize annually and they grow. On the other hand, h.'Earth Angel' (3 of them) are doing poorly here. In respect to h. 'Blue Mouse Ears', they are growing nicely here. Bernd...See MoreWhat's this - and how do I get rid of it!
Comments (27)Seeing the "free Tansy plants, u dig?" comment made me snicker, it just might have worked. Several years ago we drove past a house that had just been sold, it had been vacant for several years and the front yard, a BIG front yard, well, the whole yard was a solid stand of bamboo. In front of it was this sign "FREE BAMBOO U DIG". We drove by a day or two later and you'd think there was the garage sale to end all garage sales going on but the people had buckets, containers, sacks, you name it they were in there digging and prying and pulling. Two weeks later the ground was bare, driving past nowadays all you see is a green lawn. I wonder how many of those energetic souls are regretting the day they dug the freebies. Comments (31)so not everybody can see my ideabooks? bummer! I've been originally on Gardenweb, but I signin to houzz, as ev does now after the conversion. been what, sev years? i'll send them a question. thanks for letting me know. I see gardengal's ideabooks, dbarron has none: that is no default ideabooks (like for me). dbarron, do you have any? feathers and windberry have what looks like default ideabooks with no pics. the URL is the same on my page with visible ideabooks and on faulty page where they are not visible - that's quite strange!...See Moredjacob Z6a SE WI
