rouge - It is interesting to see how these are evaluated across the pond, but I wonder how that translates to our very different climate? I noticed in the report, it was mentioned their trial garden experienced one of the lowest winter temps in recent years: -17 C which equals around 1.4 F. As we all know, that's not considered very cold around here. I also noticed they mentioned a couple of pest problems I have never heard of. Come to think of it, I can't recall mums in my garden having any issues with pests other than rabbits. Still, an interesting read. Of the ones awarded in their garden trials, I have one - Ruby Mound. It is a nice plant and for a long time was one of my favorites, but I've discovered others I like better. Kevin

My Mammoth mums have since gotten quite large. Problem is that they flop like crazy once in bloom when it rains I jumped on the MM bandwagon and had great success with "Dark Pink Daisy". It was so floriferous in its first year last season. But as you have noted, I experienced similarly i.e. a complete flop while in full bloom last Fall. It easily survived this past harsh winter and it has been so vigorous this season. AND I have regularly pruned it all over thereby hoping to lessen the likelihood of another flop. I am actually debating right now whether to trim some more this week....getting a bit long into the summer...dont want to delay too long those amazzing flowers!

Hi, I did a post awhile back looking for Morden Mums. They are grown out west and can be shipped here but the shipping costs would be extremely expensive. I did try emailing some of the major nurseries with not much luck either. I did find some Korean mum seeds at Thompson & Morgan. I'm growing those to see how they fare. Still extremely tiny and I'm growing them gingerly in pots until they are big enough to be transplanted in the fall (hopefully) or they will come inside for the winter for spring planting next year. I brought some Belgian Mums and I would like to know if they are hardy and will survive in Zone 4 and 5? I was hoping that if they are hardy they will survive and buy planting them in the Spring they would get established before Fall. They are called Spring Mums.
