do you play words with friends?
Comments (18)I just started playing words last week and I've got games going with DH and DD right now. I love it because I can play with DH right next to me and DD 1000 miles away. Neither one of them has beaten me yet, but DD has a good chance this time....See MoreNew online deductive reasoning game
Comments (15)Using Firebug to inspect the DOM... It seems there are three(really only two) word lists containing four letter words. fourletterwords (a list of 1808 words) legalfour (a list of 3900 words) legal (a duplicate of legalfour, legalfive, etc., depending on which word length you're playing) The list called legalfour does not contain "spam", "blog", or "rape". The list called fourletterwords does. Unless I'm getting confused, and I may be, I think the word is chosen from the list called fourletterwords but you can only guess words that are in the list called legalfour. If true, that sounds like a glitch. I don't understand it well enough to understand how it works. Well enough to cheat? Maybe. Edit: If you're adventurous and don't mind creating a bookmarklet... javascript:alert(fourletterwords[rand]);...See MoreDo you consider tickling an appropriate game to play?
Comments (31)If anyone were to tickle me, I would sic an Abrams tank on them. As a child visting an older cousin, she and my uncle tickled me unmercifully one day. They thought it was funny and would not stop. I fell off the bed and hit my head on a radiator, causing it to bleed. Perhaps they stopped when they saw I’d hurt my head, or perhaps I cried. There was no ”inappropriate” touching other than them persisting in tickling me. My parents never tickled us. Just the thought of anyone tickling me is troubling. I had friends with cousins who tickled, I guess to them it was fun. I would never tickle a child, and something is screwed up with anyone who persists in tickling a child after enough is enough (1/2 second). If I know a child, I might show affection by briefly and lightly and only once taking the top surface of my finger any brushing it beneath their chin when they are across from me and we are talking or telling stories. Although, TBH, I don’t know that I have ever don’t that. I do not regard tickling as a game. There are better alternatives — hide and seek, stories, games of memory with cards laid face down …. ETA — I do think it is fun when a young kid wants someone strong to hold them up in the air or upside down for a few seconds — that sort of controlled horseplay....See MoreHow well have you done playing Wordle?
Comments (27)I always start with "STARE" or "ASTER" as these contain the most common letters. Next is "QUOIN" which knocks off all the vowels plus the common "N". Then I think of words which eliminate as many consonants as possible, whether they have the right vowel/s or not. The goal is to eliminate consonants. Bonus if I use a vowel and it ends up in the right place. If there aren't enough vowels consider if the word might end in "Y". Don't forget the less used letters or the possibility that one of the correct letters is either a double or is used again in the word. I have a 97% success rate and often get it in 2....See Morehounds_x_two
