Do you need roof vents on new roof???
Comments (4)raee and others I don't agree.. why?? in 18yrs our power roof vent fan...runs just about all the time from mid april to mid october.. yes just passed sunup to after sun down..daily we have ridge vents and soffit vents(100%)..all installed when the house was built.. the powered vent fan was at my request from the builder..its set at 115F.. so soffit/ridge vents don't work as claimed..the build thought it was a dumb idea! please provide at least one research document from a non ridge vent maker to backup your claim..fyi I have looked into this matter and have found none! soffit vents don't help! ridge vents don't either! more insulation in the attic helped more! think i'm joking.. we installed reflextex($500) insulation on the roof rafters to help the ridge vents.. yet the fan still runs..even when it 75 outside..no I haven't change its temp setting to 15yrs.. so..back your claim with facts..i'd like to see them..prove me wrong.. -dkenny...See MoreNeed a new exterior paint color and new roof!
Comments (2)Thank you so much for this idea! I've been looking more at warmer colors...like greige or warm off-whites. I am so undecided so thanks for your thoughts on this!...See MoreUgly ranch house that needs new roof. Add peaks?
Comments (24)Wow, GA did a great job with that mock up. Totally a classy ranch home. How awesome, another nice American home. I THOUGHT about saying black on the fascia, but with the windows updated on the former garage, there you go. Black takes that brick to modern, and some grass and landscaping makes it timeless. A gem waiting to be polished, truly. You could certainly have the shingles removed, have a radiant barrier installed with a concealed fastener, "standing seam look alike" metal roof put on in charcoal gray color, it would have great curb appeal. https://www.muellerinc.com/roofing Their next tone, a burnished color, is pretty dark and could overwhelm the light to medium tone of your brick. You don't want a house that is dominated by the roof in your vision, just complimented by it..... The charcoal gray from this manufacturer is the perfect tone for your home imho. If you don't have Mueller in your area, do find another manufacturer and choose a color that is heat reflective and has a color warranty which is great. You could put the galvalum on, and save a bit, (that standard silvery color)but the color warranty is only 10 years, the last time I checked....See MoreNeed ideas for our Dutch colonial...new roof line?
Comments (11)The roof to the right of the main house looks like a barn. I'd change that to make it look like the main house. The gable addition you have suggested for the front makes things worse. If adding a detached garage, I would keep the roofs the same. The more elements you add that are different, imo make things worse. When I look at the house, my initial reaction is of the far right side. It just looks off....See Moreklem1
