Does anyone collect pine resin for grafting? I like to use still-sticky pine resin -- I hope I'm using the right word; I'm not completely clear on the difference between sap and resin and rosin -- for covering cut ends, etc. on fruit tree grafts. I could probably improve its qualities as a grafting wax by melting and mixing with other things, but it's worked well enough by itself. I've found ehow type advice on collecting pine resin, but for what I'm doing I can't use the hard, glassy resin. What's worked best for me so far is just using soft clumps that I've just randomly found in the woods, but that's limiting and I'm sure there a better way.
