Shades for high windows to insulate

Jennifer Medina

These are kitchen windows that are 30 3/16” to 52 1/4” tall with cabinets being installed underneath and the windows are countertop height. My designer suggests motorized Hunter Douglas cellular shades for around $1,500 - they’re not even the ones with the foil lining. That’s out of our budget. We lower shades for the direct east facing windows overnight in the summer to keep out heat and in the window to keep heat in. There is no other reason (no privacy needs). What other options would you love? Our style is modern/contemporary so we do like the pleated or cellular shade look and want to have as much of a view otherwise. Hunter Douglas also has shades where you can raise/lower using a rod for around $600. Anyone use these?

Thank you for any help you can provide! I feel like there have to be other companies who also have quality shades at a lower price…
