This is a dining area, but I'd rather turn into a living room or any other room
Please give me ideas. It's connected to a family room on the other side and a hallway with a study on the other side.

a two sided fireplace? The so called dining room is to the front of the home? with a large window? sorry, I don't understand the arrangement.

Yes, it's 2-sided. The front of the house has a small foyer, connecting to the hallway which leads to this room first, then the other side is a family room with open concept kitchen

My guy had mixed antique brown and country white sample and it was a nice chocolate color, although the white made it hide the grain a little instead of making the flooring kinda glow but I liked that. He also used minwax, though, which isn't great. But if you like the look maybe someone can recommend similar colors in a better brand. (Top two, white oak but no poly yet.)

I would remove the shutters. Paint the interior of the carport White to brighten it up. the exterior siding should be a light, warm white to give it a bit of height, the roof is so heavy it makes the house look squatty. What other house colors are in the neighborhood, definetly do something different. if others are white, do something dark. I can't see the carport supports in the photo, but you could define them with beefed up wood posts. Is it a patio? or will you be using it for parking? You definitely need shrubbery, but I'd trim that hedge down a foot and get it to bush out. even a row of colorful plants in front for color.

I suggest that black counters and backsplash will stand up to the floor and white cabinets without overwhelming the occupant. There are tons of articles comparing countertop materials. I suggest you look into slate countertops as well, since they are of comparable quality to a Brazilian cherry floor, and can be black or near black. What metal will you choose for your faucet and cabinet hardware? May I suggest copper for at least one and black for the other? I ran across your other post asking for help with stain colors, and was going to encourage you to not go too dark on the stain, but I see you’ve already swung into action! I was also going to suggest getting a carpenter to cut the semicircle glass areas in the door in a more rectangular shape to update it. The reds on the doors do look good with the deep brown, but I’ve always liked grey-greens with browns. Something like in the photo below (the roof in the pic looks similar to your siding stain so you can see how it would look). You could paint your window, door and garage door trim in a black like in the picture to make them stand out a bit more (something like SW Iron Ore). Normally in an 80’s house like this, I’d recommend trim same color as siding, but a really dark stain tends to obliterate the windows, so a bit of delineation around them might help. If the grey-green is too bold, I’d go with a lighter tan. Or paint the garage doors same as the siding and choose some other fun color on the front door.

I see a room with a fireplace at one end and doorway leading into a short hall at the other end, and two small windows. It doesn't appear to be at the front of the house to me, but I could be wrong. I don't see any reason why you couldn't use this room as a formal living room, or something else. Sorry I can't be any help, I'm not very good with blank slates.

What do you need? First and foremost is utility. Could be a music room, office, entertaining space, game room, whatever you need. Labels are unimportant--it's your house and you are free to use any space however it works for you.

.. a sofa set may block the way.

Unless I put a love sofa with 2 chairs?

I would be tempted to float 4 comfy armchairs around a center coffee table - if you google this arrangement you will see lots of ways to do it, style wise

Decide on your needs first, then post a floor plan. It's difficult to give you a layout without knowing the dimensions and adjacencies.

I suggest some comfy swivel chairs arranged around a glass coffee table. Two nice floor lamps, a cool area rug under the chair arrangement and possibly a chaise lounge for dramatic effect placed on the diagonal. Possibly a bar cart and some big exotic plants.

Treat the space as one giant room with similar colors but create a conversation area in one room and maybe a tv area in the other.
