Take a door off the cabinet and go to the paint store and get it color matched, and then repaint the walls. It will still be a bit different because of the sheen, but, will be closer than what you already have.

There are so many factors going into what you are seeing

yes—the cardboard protecting the floors is causing light values to reflect that med brown

will you have window coverings that will block outdoor light coming in?

your Taj Majal hasn’t been installed but it will be horizontal not vertical color factor…

I think you should just WAIT until it is finished and all parts have come together—

you are probably more likely to be happy with the backsplash and counters because I bet you took backspash samples and held against the taj majal—

Westhighland White is a creamy white not a true white—it can be a beautiful color because it is warm and comforting vs a white that some might feel is clinical and harsh—

it doesn’t have the cool blue tint that many more gray whites have…

and your cabinets look to be more of a blue/true white—

you can add in other options to balance that out with the glass in the light fixtures with counter stools w/white upholstery

but it is a contrast with your walls—your backsplash looks like it will have a good balance of white to add to the cabinet color in the room—you might consider running it all the way up to the ceiling which would make a visual connection with the front of the island that you will see looking into the kitchen…

Google ”Westhighland White” + ”Taj Majal” or ”French Oak floors” and you will likely get some photos and comments—

it is not bad/wrong to have cream and white tones in any room—they just have to be balanced with each other—

As hard as it is to wait and not obsessing over the paint samples which I have already bought 5 more, ha. The countertops will be in by the end of May and we plan to pull up all the cardboard to get the full picture before finalizing the wall color. The painter is starting on the trim next week & then doing another coat on the walls.... Luckily my bar stools do have a white cushion with bits of linen ( nomad snow) from Arhaus, which will pull in more white. We are going up to the ceiling on the back splash...

just curious how you chose a true white for your cabinets—

did that happen before you picked your slabs and backsplash?

and could you tell me name of that backsplash—we are doing new home and I have a quartz Calacatta Oro counters w/white Linen cabinets—not many options with this builder unlike yours—we aren’t doing a custom build…

lot depnds on your particular slabs—you can also do a white wood trim going off your cabinets and then do the Highland White (or another wall color)—

Maria has several blog posts about blending white and off-white/cream in same spaces

Personally I like a tan/white — have it in my master bath because we kept the LVP flooring when did remodel—and have Daltile 4x16 white subway tiles and a creama marfil light and dark mosaic with white…

And FWIW—when you choose paint samples, buy white poster board and paint it w/the small sample jars that BM sells (SW and others don’t do that which is NOT helpful)…you can use any paint brand but then you have to buy larger ”sample” sizes…

and don’t buy from Lowe’s or HD or get a SW color at a BM store just because you want to choose between two brands—they never use the same original ingredients and it does make a difference—

takes two coats on poster to get good cover—use small foam rollers

and then use those sample boards

the ones you can order that stick/remove are frankly too small to be a good representation

the poster boards are larger, hold up pretty well to being painted, and can really be seen better from a distance—

in your kitchen for instance you could see them from where you stood to take that photo much better than a small stick-on color sample…

I picked the cabinet color first in the design center...I carried around the sample too... creamy white believe it or not... In the house with no lights on.... darker section comes off this putty white. The pic is a bit off. It was a custom color, Elmwood came up with. I thought would be a safe bet to go with everything, HA! I may confirm it is correct and the same as my sample. It looked great with my counters & back splash. I may end up using Alabaster vs this shade... less yellow. Also my outside color. I'll attach the pic of my sample

I spent soo much time figuring out which back splash tile to go with. I saw an insp photo on instagram & loved it... based on my kitchen design... floating shelves with the tile to the ceiling.

I hunted down the exact tile from the photo but when i saw the sample it had too much grey in it.

I will certainly use your advise on the poster board. Great idea. Less mess too. I have a ton of Sampilize that used to come up with Highland but now thinking Alabaster or something like that may be better. The floor is gorgeous and can't wait to pull up the cardboard... May be perfect but I will be ready nonetheless....

Now that I look closer at the photo, I think the paint with its yellowish tint is making the cabinets look whiter than they are, man!! Paint is becoming the hardest part of this house. Second to the tile selections in bathrooms

Maria Killum says NEVER choose your wall color first—

you have to make the hard choices—meaning things that are not as easy to change as paint like flooring, countertops, cabinets first—and then find the best color choice for paint that melds with all those finishes…and having a ”custom” color for your cabinets is not something I would want to do because it makes it harder to match and do any touchups down the line…

I have come to find out that the ”Linen” color of our cabinets is also a closely guarded secret as to which mfg makes a paint to match it—Timberlake considers it a “proprietary” color I guess and doesn’t want to be easy to match…not that they are the best cabinets either—but only option from our builder…

and she also says to never put a countertop sample in vertical position because they are FLAT in use—unless you are using it as backsplash—and frankly I love that option and wish I could do it in my new kitchen…

but you should use every choice in its real-world orientation: backsplash choices vertical and counters horizontal to each other…vs laying them on top or side by side—

has to do with light on their surfaces being different if they are lying down vs vertical
