Hello everybody, Unfortunately, I am having a relapse triggered by a family fight I had today. As I mentioned in my first post, my relationship with my mom is not good and she is very disrispectful with my stuff and has thrown away very special things to me. Things that I really treasured. Today, I picked up a carped that my mom had removed almost a year ago. She wanted to throw it away, but the carpet was in good condition and I liked it, so I took it to a place to have it washed and storaged. Today I finally got it back home and put it behind a wall in my living room. It was well hidden and it wasn't taking too much room. My mom saw it and started acting like crazy and told me she was going to throw it away tomorrow. I got angry and she started telling me that I had my stuff all over the house, which is not true, and then mentioned that the fact I put my little dog's stuff, like his plate and little bones in the laundry room was a problem for her to. This made me get very angry and I went down the stairs because I wanted to make sure my dog's stuff were safe. suddenly, my uncle, who was at home for a visit, stood up and got between me and my mother because according to him he thought I was going to hit my mom, which is a terrible lie. He dared me to fight and I told him I was not going to accept his attitude in my house. Then he asked me to go outside and I said: OK. Let's go. Next, my brother showed up and my mom to avoid the fight. Then my brother told me he didn't want to fight because he was much heavier than me and that it was going to be easy for him. I said: Come on, let0's do it. And he refused it and said he loved me. Ever since my parents divorced he has interfered in many of my family's issues that are not concer of his and sometimes he has tried to act like the man of the house. Today was the last straw and made me lose my mind. He has brainwashed my mom several times, my mom almost always does what he tells her to do and of course, he usually takes my moms side. All this conflict made me have a psychiological crisis and miss my little dog a lot since I feel very alone again and I have no friend and partner at home to rely on. I really didn't need this since I was starting to feel better about the loss of my beautiful Guyton, to heal, to rearrange my life without suffering too much and feel more peace. On top of that, my Psychiatrist took the liberty to show my mom and my brother my diagnosis file after a visit my mom and my brother made to his office, which was a terrible violation to my privacy and to the confidentiality respect Mental professionals have to have. It's the most basic and important rule. Now, my mom is using this as a weapon and threatening me to send me to a mental hospital because my Psychiatrist also told her and my brother she could do that. It is just unbelievable. He betrayed me and put me in a very difficult position. Specially now that I am trying to overcome the death of my little dog and my mind is unstable. It just looks he also took my brother's and mom's side and they are their patiens not me. Now I am missing Guyton a lot again and their loss became bigger again too. I am lost and sad again. Ductwork all runs through the ceiling. Or rather, along the tops of the ceiling, UNDER the ceiling and inside the room (rather than up in the attic, though there must be a place in the attic where the furnace connects to the heating ducts) In fact I'm pretty sure that's why they put that stupid "bookshelf" there (with the shelves too close together and NOT MOVABLE eg too short, and too deep for actual books and also not suitable for decorative items either, LOL!). Basically it fills in the space under the ductwork, where in the kitchen (on the other side of the living room wall past the bathroom) the ductwork runs over where the wall cabinets are. The story of these houses is a little weird, they were supposed to use plans that included WOOD STOVES (wonderful way to heat in the desert where trees don't grow) but instead used plans intended for a different Air Force base in another state that included oil furnaces. Thankfully. But the oil furnace was replaced in the 70s or 80s with a forced air gas heater and that was pretty nonfunctional (wasn't even correctly connected to the ductwork). So we had that replaced and the existing ductwork at that time was all up through the attic and running along the top of the ceiling in every room. Anyway so originally they intended to build houses that would have included a connection for a wood stove but since they didn't actually USE those plans I'm pretty sure it was purpose-built for the oil furnace originally, since those were the plans they actually (accidentally) used. Maybe there was/is some stuff involving the old oil furnace in there ... That room is WAY too big for a "coat closet", plus the actual coat closet (also somewhat oversize but still obviously closet-ey) is just around the corner there. The "weird" room is 4 x 6.25 and would be 5x7 ish if it weren't for the weird bookcase and offset back wall with apparently blank space behind it. The coat closet around the corner is extra-deep and larger than any other hall closet I've ever seen @ 38.5" deep - more than 3' deep - and 41" wide. It's HUGE for a closet but at least it actually looks like one. As for that odd space seemingly blocked off there between the bathroom and the weird room, I guess I'll need to take out a bit of wallboard and look. Just seems so odd ...

tear it out now while youve only wasted a few hundred $ and a few hrs..... and make a smart hiring decision going fwd. Maybe wait til after twins:) and until you can afford to have it done correctly. But be ready first to get FURTHER misinfotmed on this forum.

rachel, just curious. when you show these pics (especially that last one w/the glob of grout that has hardened) what does the GC say? does he plan on taking a chisel to that? (and the fact that none of these tiles are flush and level, i mean, I could go on and on) The mess around your metal fixture, is that getting cleaned? is it scratched? if it is, he owes you a new one. That shouldn't even be attached until all grouting is done and cleaned. What's going on here w/this ungrouted joint below the niche?? is that going to stay like that so water can flow behind it? what's the deal? Ditto the ungrouted joint on the underside of the niche. And can we talk about this lack of clean up? all that grout has now dried on the tile. it's not going to wipe off. so how is that going to be removed w/o scratching your tile? The toe kick? they owe you a new one if that can't be fixed. And the tape? could they be any more lazy? seriously. Are they doing this between the hits on their meth pipes? these gaps? it should be a caulk that matches your grout color. wood can expand. grout will crack. These are the sloppiest, bull-in-a-china-shop workers that I've seen. Absolutely no regard for their work or the clients property. These guys have no pride in their work (and obviously have very little skill). As long as people keep hiring them and accepting this quality, they'll keep doing it. I wouldn't pay a dime for any of this work until it's all fixed. And you really need to have a stern talk w/the GC about the carelessness of this workers.
