Comments (9)Thanks, Asleep. The PS wasn't supposed to be hardy here, so I stuck cuttings in all kinds of places the first year I found it here. A couple have died, but overall, they are multiplying around the yard, 3 & 4 years later. This is my fav patch, in its' 2nd year. That corner is just where I stick stuff that needs the most shade and/or protection. It's in a corner of the house, under a giant tree, and now a new adjacent covered potting area will offer even more shelter. A foot of leaves will go there after frost. That's where I found the pink Syngoniums, and heart-leaf Philo has survived there the past couple winters. The EE pictured is really the main bulb behind, and a pup in front. The flowers are coming from the old mama bulb. In the spring, I'm moving the whole she-bang. I LOVE it when I'm outside, this whole corner, but the leaves block the view out the kitchen window of a spot with roses and butterfly plants. It's cool to see the back of the EE leaves at eye level from there, but I'd rather look at the view I planted for the purpose of looking at from that window. The bondage you envision for your bulb sounds complicated. Is it inside already? Do you have a cool basement or crawl space? Garage? If so, it might be easier to let frost zap it (back outside?) & then kind of forget it in cool storage until it can go back outside. Maybe a little dribble of water occasionally but if not, should be fine....See Moreimagine my surprise...
Comments (16)Dear All, Some time ago, a GW member posted a great demonstration of how easily names and other markings can be removed by those who wish to do so. I do not mean to rehash the past or to rile people up. If I do, I apologize in advance. However, beyond the aforementioned ease of removal, GW's terms and conditions are the reason that I stopped posting on this site and why I never post links to my albums. I sincerely wish that this problem could be resolved. I love to see all of your photos and I want to share mine too. Best, Blanca P.S. Comments (24)I thought Alexa was kidding about the strong minded people at the Laundry Forum.....apparently there is such a thing and she sent me the link this morning. When I finally stopped laughing I went to check it out. Who would have thought......there were 5 threads on ASKO washers & dryers alone! (literally ASKO parts 1-5) Parts 4 and 5 had 123 and 142 posts respectively - seriously. I sure parts 1,2, & 3 were up there also. And yes - people have REALLY strong opinions about brands, top loading, front loading, how to clean a dryer vent and how to distress a brightly colored polyester speedo. Okay - so I'm off topic - but this post isn't on the convo side. I'm sure I'll get blasted by someone but I just had to share something that really tickled my funny bone! So if you need a good laugh ............ this site makes the hosta forum members look like a bunch of girlscouts! Comments (5)While you don't have to rush right out and move the pile immediately, I wouldn't recommend leaving them in place indefinitely. 4-5" is a bit thick for mulch over tree root systems - I'd not go more than 3". Applying them directly as mulch now is of little concern - it's only when they are worked into the soil that any issues of nitrogen depletion arise and that can be easily compensated for. They also make a great path material through planting beds or other, informal areas and keep mud to a minimum....See Moretracefloyd
