I need help choosing my bathroom floor tile color
Comments (12)Thanks, SJ. Yellow has never been one of my favorite colors and there is a lot of it on the wall. I was considering the multi-yellow though, but now that I've learned it's been discontinued, I think I will go with the light blue. Thanks for the mock ups, ilikefriday!...See MoreI need help with my bathroom
Comments (3)Robin, if you like the separate rooms in this set-up I do have some ideas to make them a bit nicer. First thing I thought of was that the things on the shelves in the shower room may get damp, making the shelves less usable. So I thought of closing off the front of the shelves and opening them from the other side, the toilet room. One might say that then things on the shelves could get exposed to malodorous air and not be so fresh. So, I thought of my Toto toilet seat with the deodorizing fan. It really does work to contain most of the smell, if you flush before standing. So, add an electrical outlet to the toilet room and add a Toto Washlet with deodorizing fan. It will make all the spaces more pleasant. Then you can have the closet open into the toilet room (though you can put a door on it, instead of having open shelves). If you don't want that, you could alternatively get an exhaust fan for the shower area that is turned on by humidistat, so that it is always on when the shower is used, to draw the dampness out of the room. That may make the shelves more usable. You still have to navigate two doors to get to them, though! The best solution for this space in my eyes is to remove a few walls and doors. It will open the room up and give you options. Even if you keep the same footprint, it will feel more spacious. Of course, this is all a matter of taste and if you like the rooms, then keep them. Do the corner med cabs have flat backs, or are they the ones designed to go into corners and have a deeper section in the back, being triangular shaped? Are they in good enough shape to look good with a new vanity? How is this set-up working for you? Do you like the window there? I have also seen a mirror suspended from the ceiling that hangs in front of a window in pictures of bathroom remodels. It can look nice. But squaring off the vanity and work space does give you more room. Getting rid of the wall between the vanity and toilet can give you at least 4" more width for a vanity. There may be more space available, depending on how close the toilet is to the wall....See MoreModern retro bathroom hex tile is busy. Need rug help
Comments (3)I'd go with a small 2 x 3 jute flat weave to go right in front of the vanity and nowhere else. Will work with your baskets. Something like this: If you want, you could also get one with black canvas tape trim, that will pick up the black in your tile. Comments (7)Thanks for your comments. One option is to paint this vanity but I don’t want my bath to look like every “designer” white bathroom. I like the warmth of wood tones. Finding a medicine cabinet mirror that I like is another challenge. I predict that wood tones will come back but all the designers are going white/ gray....See Morela_la Girl
