Need layout help with Master Bath/Main Bath redo
Comments (7)Hi Cat-Mom, Yup, we're also renoing Living Room and Master Bedroom at the same time- you? :>) I just faux-painted our entry stair railing to make do until we add on to our front entry. So many balls in the air, hard to juggle it all at one time. kgwlisa, That's what I had thought of so far, basement ceiling has been ripped down, so all the plumbing is fully exposed, and present shower and bath have leaking problems, so things pretty well have to be redone anyways. I was even contemplating 'borrowing' more out of the common wall when we build it, by building in storage behind mirror and perhaps a deeper vanity. I'm assuming this is a fairly basic/common plan, and hopefully others have paved the path... Rae...See MoreMy Daughter's Master Bath Redo
Comments (17)You're welcome, Pixe1. That's nice to hear! Thank you, itltrot. Katie, thanks! The vanity is very well made. Nice and heavy. Nothing was or is coming apart. The shelves and drawers are well made. All are soft close and no problem. If you read the article, the counter comes attached with sinks to the vanity. But the backsplash piece is on top. You would think something wrapped in 50 sheets of foam encased in hardwood on all but one side would not break! Original was broken, replacement was broken, next one wasn't broken but was only 48" then finally the right size unbroken. It was ordered from Vintage Tile & Bath and their customer service could not have been more helpful getting the replacements sent. It was delivered, unwrapped for me to inspect (DD2 was at work) and signed for with a note about the backsplash. Hoped this helped....See MoreHelp Redo My Master Bath!! (Pics)
Comments (2)It seems like that raised area to the left of your vanity is an awkward space. Can you rework the tile that surrounds the tub, so that it has more of a stand-alone look? Maybe leave a border of 1 or 2 tiles around the tub itself, but take away the platform on either side. Then you could have a longer vanity with 2 sinks in the space where your current vanity is, but just extend it to the wall. If your vanity is in good shape, you could just replace the doors, paint it, put on a granite top, and extend the granite to the left all the way to the back wall. You could either put cabinets under that area or leave it open for a make-up area....See MoreDo I need a tub in my master bath?
Comments (15)Nicole my daughter, 10 uses her bath bombs in the shower. She also makes smaller shower bombs for her friends because many of her friends do not like taking baths that much or between school and sports have little time before bed to take a bath. They put them on the floor in the water stream they bubble the feet and add aroma therapy with the steam. I opted for a steamy large jetted shower over a bath tub. Initially I wanted a pretty soaker tub with air jets but they were all much shallower than my main hall bath's 1920s tub which is actually a shorter distance from my side of the bed than my master bath tub would have been anyway. So we saved the money and added loads of storage and extra shower heads instead of a master tub. I thought I would still be using my hall tub weekly like I use to but I find using the jets and than sitting on a bench in the steam to be ten times more pleasurable than the bath. I have only used the tub once last year. My kids prefer my shower now to baths as well....See Moremjw1224
