Curved vs. straight shower rod and bathroom space
Comments (5)Unless you keep the curtains closed all the time, it won't be an issue. If you keep the curtains open when the shower is not in use there is no difference between the curved rod and the straight rod for the toilet user (assuming that the activities are mutually exclusive). Adding the curved rod has made taking a shower much more pleasant for my teenaged boys!...See MoreShould a bathroom open towards a toilet or a shower?
Comments (7)Our kids have a Jack and Jill between their rooms and so far it has functioned for us really well. They share a space with sinks and there is a separate space with toilet and tub/shower off that. Each of their bedrooms has a pocket door to the shared sink/vanity area. We did NOT put locks on these doors since I had read on gardenweb that a common problem was one kid locking both doors and the other couldn’t get in. The room that homes the toilet/tub does have a locking door and in swings in. The only problem with that is that if I’m in with the kids while they are having a tub bath (they’re young) the in-swinging door blocks the tub. But they’re gonna kick me out shortly anyway, so there’s that......See MoreHelp- jack and Jill bathroom, remove wall separating toilet?
Comments (17)Thank you for your comments. I appreciate you asking your family what they would prefer! I do think once my son is a little older he will probably want to move to another bedroom that has its own smaller bathroom attached to it so then our daughter would have this bathroom to herself. At first, I was really unsure of the hall bath idea but I am really warming up to it and so is my husband! We are going to measure to see how much space we would have for the length of the vanity if we moved it tot he wall next tot he toilet right now. I loved the idea of the jack and Jill originally but I think it works out better when laid out differently than ours is. A more open space (like we would get if we made this a hall bath) would be really nice. We plan on being in this house for the long term so whatever works for our family best is our priority for now. I would love more hanging space in the bathroom and more space I. The kids rooms without the extra door heading into the bathroom. The linen closet is also in the hallway so they would have to head into the hallway to get towels for a bath anyway. Thanks so much for your and everyone elses input as well!...See MoreLarge format tile vs small tile for small bathroom
Comments (5)We are also doing two bathroom remodels. Our tile installer is telling us that large tiles are the rage right now, however our master bath will be a wet room. I am very hesitant to put large tiles on the floor thinking that they could be very slippery. On the other hand, I really don't want to deal with discoloring of grout as time goes on. Now my mother installed lots of tile in the 80s and and the grout became very discolored. I am suspecting grout has come a LONG was since then. I have read about epoxy and urethane grout. Does anyone have suggestions for a bathroom wet room? Thanks so much for your opinions in advance!...See MoreMrs Pete
