What should I do with these floors?

I don't even know how to Google this situation. What can I do to improve the appearance and texture of my hardwood floors? Picture to try to give a sense of what shape they're in. I'm sure I've been mistreating them bc I have no idea what I am doing. They don't all look as bad as the kitchen, which is what you see here. Could I maybe stain and seal them so they look better/more uniform? Or, what are my best options for replacing original flooring?

These look like solid hardwood floors to me.

If they are in bad shape, you would have them refinished.

If you don't like the color, the refinishing process would give you an opportunity to change the color.

Personally, I like the color that you have now.

They are just in need of refinishing. They certainly don’t need to be replaced.

The doors have to be installed to open across the flooring. Depending on the rough openings for the doors, the frames may need to be shortened to work with new flooring. It is much easier to shorten the frames with the doors uninstalled unless you have a jamb saw----which can cost $400. On the other hand, if you know the height of the new floor, you can install the doors first to work with that height. But, once the doors are installed, the slab---the door itself---will have to be removed to install the new flooring. Take your pick.

thanks for the suggestions on photoshop. I did add the shutters in paint but we're still not decided if we need shutters for all or center or no windows. Enclosing pictures with shutters on all of them and shutters on center block. Also, we're thinking of matching the door color with the color of the shutter. Any opnions? As for adding picture to the post, I uploaded the picture to tinypic.com and pasted the html link.

Its hard to give advice with out seeing a layout or picture. But you could extend the new area in a different shape than the original and different material, perhaps even a different height like a step up.

I love the fireplace as is - I would lighten it up with art work and curated pieces that would POP against the dark brick. If It was my room I would spend money on flooring first , update the coffee table and the table on the wall (they seem dated) with a pop of glass/brass or something lighter. For the floor if you do a laminate try to budget in a large gorgeous rug. You have allot of texture already in the room so a simple floor would work - maybe even a large format grey concrete look (depending on where you live if tile would be too cold)

It mostly looks like long term wear on a section/path that gets walked on every day.

That straight line is a bit confusing?

It gets fixed by calling in a reputable floor re-finisher. They will sand the whole room, re-stain and apply a few layers of new finishing/top coat. There are many options, so do some research on what the best finishes are these days.

They can easily be refinished far cheaper than you can replace them. They are a classic look that has been around forever, regardless of trends. They will outlast you and the subsequent owners.
