Need help with small front porch and curb appeal please?!?!
Comments (20)What about a pergola extending from the left side of the house to the second floor bump out on the right? The section above the door could have a solid roof for weather protection, while the rest is open to allow light into the window. Or you could make a gable portico over the door and extend the pergola to the left off of that. You could do one over the garage as well but that might be too much, and to me adding dimension on the left is important. Properly sized shutters would actually work quite nicely here Someday :) With the style of the new garage door that would push your house a bit toward farmhouse....See Moreadvice on exterior paint colors: front door, garage door, curb appeal
Comments (14)Snap a photo on a sunny day then use the Sherwin Williams ColorSnap app to play with the colors. I would select a tone slightly darker than your mortar for the garage door and a color slightly darker than your darkest brick for the front door. I would then on the garage door install magnetic faux hinges and windows; this will add detail to the door, like the below house. I know they can be found on Amazon, not sure where else. Comments (1)Paint the garage door the same color as the house. The garage door isn't really a feature on your house, especially once it's a flat panel and will distract from what you are trying to do with the front door and porch. The roof is super, but it is very busy so you want to be sure not to have too many elements competing for attention. The pavers are great and will pop more once the garage door disappears into the house. You also have some really nice landscaping elements. Play all those things up, not the garage door....See Moreside-of-house front door, need curb appeal ideas
Comments (10)Your visitors need to be guided to your front door. Take out the overgrown shrubs and, as has been suggested here, re think the sidewalk to your front door. This can be done by widening both the bed in front of your house AND installing a wide sidewalk (modern paving stones) to the right side of your home. With planting beds on the street side of the pathway. You might consider low level lighting, too, to guide your guests to the right door. As has been suggested…placing your house numbers in a more obvious place, making them larger, and lighting them will help people see where they should enter. Have you ever considered creating a gate across the front of your carport? One that could be opened (or even have a small gate for family access) so that people see that area as “private?” Just a thought. Note: Installing a sidewalk to the street in front of your home, as some have suggested, only works IF your neighborhood has sidewalks. Many neighborhoods do not have them....See Moreptreckel
