Dinning Room Accent wall

Hello.
I need help deciding what color should my accent wall be in my dinning room? Or should I not do an accent wall there since I’m doing one by chimney? Our house is an open concept with white walls and light tan doors and trims and green kitchen cabinets. Would like to add a mirror and some wood instead of art.

A painted accent wall does not jive with the ultra modern design choices you've already got going. What will the mirror reflect? If it's not worth seeing twice--rethink.

I would not paint an accent wall there. Paint it same color as the rest of the walls.

I think it would be fine to change the sand color to Olive Branch. If it's too much, it might be nice to select a lighter, color and consider making the paneling area above the fireplace this color. I agree the scale of the pictures is too small. I think it would be nice to anchor the dining area with a large painting. The bigger the better to fill some wall space. Right now, the furniture seems to be arbitrarily placed throughout the room so I think you should rethink the floor plan. I would place the sofas on either side of the fireplace. I would move the tv to the small wall and hope that it sits below the wall and doesn't stick out. Right now, it's fighting the natural focal point of the fireplace. Now, the concept of Spanish/ Mediterranean. When you continue this space, think heavy, think furniture. Contrast is important in this style so consider black wrought iron details, perhaps a wrought iron chandelier for over the dining table and some sconces for the living area. It might be nice to consider tapestries for the area. When I suggested a lighter color earlier, it might be appropriate to think a tan or an orangish hue that is found throughout this style.

You have options! An accent wall can be a great way to accentuate interesting architectural features. Pulling the dark smoky blue from your dining room onto the living room wall furthest from the dining room would help blend the spaces while balancing the visual weight of the saturated color. Painting the wall adjacent to the dining room in that color might create a density on that side of your blended spaces. The alternative would be to pull that blue in in accessories. I have used different colors of paint in the same room in my home, and in my mom’s home. She asked me to paint one of her bedrooms that had an adjoining bathroom. I used a darker intensity from the same paint strip to paint the bathroom to give the illusion that the bathroom was farther away. If you have an entryway that you want to “spotlight,” you could use that as an accent, or a fireplace wall, or some nice feature that you want to showcase. I don’t worry about what is “in” or “out” but do things that my husband and I like—we are the ones who live here, not someone on HGTV.

The modern farmhouse trend of white shiplap feature walls sounds like a version of what you are asking for. Not recommending shiplap, as that was done to death, but it would give you a sense of the effect of different texture/same color. I think texture (or wallpaper) would work better than color, because the way you see color varies from wall to wall with the light. So the difference in paint colors would need to be different enough for it to look like more than that normal variation in how the same color looks on different walls of a room. I'm not sure if you can get enough contrast with whites. Maybe if your definition of white includes sufficiently off whites. Something like white grasscloth wallpaper could be a nice accent. Or a paintable textured wallpaper.

A mirror is rarely a good choice in a dining room. I think your desire for an accent wall is because so far the palette is very neutral and the same throughout. But accent walls shouldn't be used indiscriminately. They don't always work. Try to branch out to brighter colors when choosing artwork. Some people don't like rugs under their dining tables, but if you do, you could add some color and pattern with a rug. The kitchen is nice, but were you going to put pulls on the cabinets?

Thank you everyone for your help. I will be doing same color and do art instead of mirror because yes there’s nothing worth seeing twice there.
@kandrewspa yes those should be coming in tomorrow. I ordered some gold pulls from Amazon.

Defintely could use some colorful art, and a rug with some color in it, and maybe a few colorful accessories.

I would do that wall with the art in the same color as the cabinets no mirror the art is great but a nice shallw shlf along thta wall and please no dog feeders in the DR.

The dining area is so tight. I think painting the wall something darker the other walls, a color of your choice, will give the effect of a deeper space. Then in this photo is what I would do to make the walll more important. Frame out a good size area and paint inside it white then hang your art. It would make the room look wider. Searched around for photos and found this one to give a visual of what I have in mind.

If you haven't purchase chairs, this style in the photo would be perfect. Tall back, no arms, and sleek looking will help with the small area.
