Basement Guest Room Paint Color Help

I need to repaint my basement guest room. The current color isn’t terrible but it’s a pale yellow and feels dated. I’m thinking white since the natural light is limited, but maybe an accent wall. If I do white, of course that’s a whole new question. Warm white? Cool White? Any suggestions?

It's a guest room--don't overthink this. *I* would go to a paint store and ask for the most popular stock white. End of dillema. Do you have one guest who would use this room more than a few nights per year? Ask that guest for favourite colour to put on accent wall. End of dillema.

I am trying to help my friend with her basement room that she rents as a living space. It's currently painted an awful industrial bright cool white but it looks dishwater gray because of the light temperature that comes through the windows. Can somebody recommend some color combos that will make this room feel less stark and cold? Keep in mind the floors are a darkish brown. Her furniture is a black/brown color. Thanks so much!

I’m no expert, but I have tried many, many (probably 25 ) shades of grey and greige on my walls. I ultimately ended up with Benjamin Moore Cedar Key. Neutral, greige-y and seems to morph a bit with the light and/ or furnishings. I have a navy sofa that looks really nice with it. It seems warmer than your BM Greytint, so don’t know if you want to go in that direction. But I found Cedar Key to be pretty forgiving and flexible.

I agree that paint should be chosen last. Your carpet is neutral, which is good. If you want to do something more ”fun,” choose the bedding first and then take your paint inspiration from it. You can find hundreds of bedding ensembles online and have fun shopping for inspiration. That’s what I did and ended up choosing a rather neutral gray paint, but also making a cornice, and adding wall decals to match the theme of the bedding. Great fun! Good luck!

Colors on monitors is unreliable. If carpet is golden beige, a pale blue could really brighten things up and is very calming color. A white would be cool and not very welcoming. Better lighting is in order too. Night stand with lamp or find wall mounted plug in sconce for nightime reading. Pretty ceiling light. I can suggest some blues if that appeals to you.
