Help Me Pick a Healthy Rose: Which one is better???
Comments (17)Thank you everyone for your great insight. I'm still fairly new to gardening, but I'm learning so much from all you you and the GardenWeb community. Yes, I am pretty set on having a White Edens in my garden... although I may live to regret it based on Hoovb's experience. Hoovb: I'm hoping and praying my Edens won't suffer the same fate as yours did. So far they're done pretty well, although I've only had it since September. This morning, I went out and counted 20+ large buds on the Eden I planted in September... I would have had more, had I not dug it up and transplanted it with too small of a root ball earlier this spring. Kippy-the-Hippy: I'm thinking about planting it along with a White Climbing Iceberg rose together in the front of my house, trained up and over the garage. Have any of you grown two climbing roses together? I heard of people growing fruit trees in the same hole, I wonder if I could do the same with two climbing roses? I will look into the Somebreuil rose. I'm intrigued. I've never been to Descanso Gardens, is that off PCH? I think I've heard of it. Maybe I will have to grow a Sombrieuil with an Eden in my backyard....See MoreHelp me pick which tomatoes to grow this year!
Comments (15)Thanks for all the responses! I don't know why, but I never get emails telling me I have responses - even though I've double-checked my settings here... anyhow, I appreciate all the names to check out. Someone steered me to San Marzano for paste, I think I'll give that a try. I've read a lot of negative reviews on Costoluto Genovese, that's one I almost ordered too. I hope it works out for you! I'll look up Momotaro tonight, too. I've decided against Mortgage Lifter, Beefsteak, and Bradley based on many reviews I've read today, but I have to say I like the sound of Giant Belgium, so that's staying on the list for now. I'm going to see if I can find out from my grocer what I've been buying lately, I really love the taste of it. I'm 99% sure they don't know and they won't tell me the source though. of course I don't know what conditions they were grown in, either... I found the "tomatoes for 2013" thread earlier and I'm going to give it another good look-over. I need to order my seeds by the end of next week to get going so I don't have much time left! lol Thanks everyone : )...See Moreplease help me pick which Miele dishwasher is right for me?
Comments (16)One of the appliance folk can probably say with more certainty than I could but the model you chose looks like the Optima I had in my apartment, which was a great, great dw. I have a 10 y.o. Incognito though it dries very well. I've never opened the door. Here's what Miele says about how the drying system works -- it is not heated drying and requires no energy usage. "Most Miele dishwashers employ an advanced drying system that draws room temperature air through a port at the bottom of the appliance. This air is disbursed through special channels around the exterior dishwasher cavity and allows the interior water particles to condense against the walls of the dishwasher. During this process no external air is ever introduced inside of the dishwasher. This provides the most effective and hygienic drying possible." The reason the dishes get dryer on Saniwash is because that water is very hot and, provided the dw is fairly full, the condensation is quite complete. I have Ikea cabinets in the laundry room so I'm aware of precautions with those. Their plinth board in there is starting to peel though the cabinets are doing fine. I would just be aware and make adjustments needed. The DW does come with a front piece that is contiguous with the toe kick in my kitchen but that would depend on which Ikea cabinets are being used and how they are being installed. Crystal looks like a good choice to me....See MoreHelp me pick vanity lights
Comments (5)Yes, I definitely want 2 doubles, and I tend to agree that keeping them less than 17" ( the width of the top of the mirror before the scallops), but my husband is insisting they will look 2 puny on a 72" wall, and that 3 lights, (the width of the body of the mirror, 24") would look better. Who's right?...See Moreilikefriday
