kay- It will just give you a long time to add to your springwoods garden order. I know it took me a very long time to decide on my choices as my list was a yard long. And I bought 14 of them so its not as if I only got afew but had such a difficult time deciding which to cross off the list. This fall I will be ordering more Emmerich intros and I am sure that those plants that I didn't get will be back on this list. Kay-phal - Thank you for your suggestion of a late bloomer. I first looked it up on Tinkers and what came up looks nothing like your daylily, wider pedals and much more orange. I did a general search and found what might be it with not such a great picture. Both list it as mid late. Maybe not going to bloom late enough for me here but I will deffinately keep it in mind.

Thanks for the additional mouse plant information. I'll be sure to mark it somehow so I don't dig it up (or at least reduce the likelihood of me digging it up) during its summer dormancy. Amy, you're as likely, or unlikely, to get fruit from your seedling as from most grafted, named varieties, so I'd say test-drive you new seedling and see what you think. Otherwise you'll be spending prime money for a grafted named variety that probably won't bear fruit anyway in this climate. My old one has become a very, very attractive little tree. As gardengal mentioned, they really can't be expected to bear fruit in the Pacific Northwest unless you can give them additional protection. My old one does flower reliably, so that's a start, but in this climate they're basically fun foliage plants. The raintree catalog mentions that clearly, and I hope the sales person did when you talked with them. I still may plant one in this current garden as a foliage plant. Ya know, after 29 1/2 years of a good marriage, I know that you can't have everything your way. So, when we remodeled and did away with our formal living room and created a huge great room, I caved to my husband's desire. Yup, and he wanted not just a sectional, and not just leather, but a HUGE sucker that's 9 x 11!!!! Of course, we had to shop for and select the darned thing months before our renovation was complete. Why? Well, my dears, because he had to measure out where the stupid thing would go in the great room so that he could have the surround sound speakers installed overhead right where we sit! And the speakers are for the 70' la-di-da TV, of course. And actually, everything is great. The sectional is an extremely comfortable piece. He gets the chaise portion and I get the recliner seat, and our little Bichon goes back and forth between us, vacillating about who he wants to cuddle with. (Seventeen more people can sit in the empty seats -- just joking.) The room looks wonderful, especially with the window treatments and area rug, and my husband is one happy fella. And that means I'm happy, too, right? Almost everything else in the remodel was my choice, so I decided to enjoy what we have. and I do.

I too like the idea of the brown floors and couch, with a light rug to break it off. However I'm concerned that this particular model won't look nearly as good on brown as on the lighter colors. I'll attach a photo of a similar model so you can see what I mean. I don't think it's the color itself, but the styling that makes it look a bit weird to my eyes. Is it just me, or does something about it seem... off? Oh, and two more questions: the size is 310x260 cm (122x102 inches) do you think that's too big for the space? And last, price wise we're talking around the $5k mark, do you think that's too much? Like I said before it does seem a bit steep to me, but I have no experience shopping for couches really :) However it is one of the more expensive ones from the one I've looked at, but seemed to be on par with other italian brands on leather... As far as comfort goes, what I really like about this couch is that it has a system where the back support goes all the way to the back, and transforms the regular sitting area into a mini-chaise long, so to say. It's very comfy, for sure.
