How much could I sell this table for
Comments (5)It's really pretty and rather unusual. It looks to be hand carved, and I've seen similar detail on Asian and Eastern European pieces, IOW dramatic but not heavily refined. Rosewood is pretty easily identified by the aroma. I've a rosewood dry sink and love the smell of it, especially when I was sanding it when refinishing. Your's looks like it likely is. I have no clue as to origin, nor value. Did you shine up the upper knob? The lower one appears to still have patina....See MoreRecession...bad economy...how much have pool prices gone down?
Comments (10)we were just quoted a recession special where a gunite pool will start at 33,700. that includes a deck, coping, pool itself, permits, electrical work, and one light -- pretty basic stuff -- nothing fancy. after you add in some features (stones and a sheer descent waterfall), it actually goes up to 40k, which isn't too bad. we live in northern va. i noticed that this was the only company in the area that is doing a special....See MoreHow Much to Budget for Pool Project ?
Comments (7)Thanks for the info, Scott. The gas meter hasn't been installed yet. We are going to convert our furnace, hot water heater and dryer to gas (the utility company will bring in the line from the street for free if you get enough appliances on gas). I will make sure the meter and line size will provide enough capacity for addition of a pool heater. I assume the utility company can help me regarding sizing. There's no central air and nothing out of the ordinary as far as electricity hog appliances. I know the soil is very sandy at least to 4 feet deep, as that's how far I've had to dig on some occasions. I suppose there are no guarantees in that regard, though. You bring up a good point with the drainage. We've never had our basement flood or had standing water in the yard. We do get a lot of rain here. Should I count on the PB to advise me on potential drainage issues? I really appreciate your input!...See MoreTiming: Selling a unique property (gardens, water feature, pool)
Comments (33)My house plan was stock from Design Basics, but my builder had a license to customize it. I took the plan to his architect and COMPLETELY reconfigured the inside--removed walls to open it up; changed the orientation of the staircase; removed the breakfast room so that my kitchen is 16' x 20'; added the screened porch; deepened the front porch from 6' to 8'; widened the interior gallery; reconfigured the master suite for better privacy. The garage was supposed to open in front, but I wanted a cottage garden, so the two-car garage is a sideload. As for Southern Living -- my deer-resistant garden (outside the fence) was featured a few years ago....See MoreJAN MOYER
