peach leaf curl despite kocide
Comments (5)Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I had a similarly difficult problem getting rid of shothole on my peaches and plums, it took me four years and I almost ripped 'em all out at one point. What you did should work for a "normal" curl outbreak so you must have it particularly bad. I would focus on the fall sprays more, that is when the curl is lodging in the new buds (and getting effectively hidden from future sprays). Spray first when half the leaves have fallen, again when all leaves down, and a third a few weeks later. My victory over shothole was finally achieved with fall sprays. Curl is very different, but I do think this is the best point to get diseases to keep them from overwintering. I would also use lime-sulphur for half of the sprays, copper for the other half: hit it from every angle you can. My shothole is almost completely under control, but in the end I had to almost completely topwork the two plums which were the most susceptible: Elephant Heart and Howard Miracle. They would get it bad and then spread it to the other trees. Scott...See Morered peach partial leaf out, curled new leaves
Comments (1)Has this been a bad year for fruit growing in general? Apart from the peaches and nectarines with bad leaf curl(even though they had a thorough winter wash and copper fungacide spray in early spring)my victoria plum has leaf curl and lost all its fruit, and the pears and apples although looking healthy have only two apples and no pears. The only ones doing extremely well are the 3 grape vines which are as healthy as can be....See MoreLooking to order supplies - any favorite stores
Comments (1)Agricultural sulfur is available in 50lb bags at FS Farmers Co-op, here in Dane County, Wisconsin. Farmers use sulfur on heavily cropped fields, sometimes to improve growth in alfalfa. I suspect that soybeans, also, would pull sulfur from the soil. So you have to figure out where farmers in your area are buying sulfur. Several years ago, I paid 90 cents a pound....See MoreNew Peach Tree Leaf Curl
Comments (1)Your question got posted in the wrong place and that's probably why you never got a response. Fertilizer is highly unlikely to help with the problem you describe and is probably more likely to complicate the issue. If you are still looking for answers, I would recommend posting into the main Trees Forum or into the Fruit and Orchards Forum, and I would definitely include a few pictures. You need to ID the problem before throwing a bunch of stuff on the tree and hoping for magic....See Morefloraluk2
