What would you do with this table and chairs?
Comments (3)Oh my folks had a rattan set like that in our den in the 60's and I saw one at the antique mall the other day too. That furniture is VERY well made and weighed a TON. I know I have seen it painted and am not sure how they did it. I bet spray painting would be the best as there are SO many tiny places to get to. You will need to clean/?sand? prime/paint. At least that would be my guess. I am tring to remember what the top was on Mom and Dad's set and I am drawing a blank. I know what it is called ...it is not wood though...it will come to me or someone else will know. Good luck that is a great set. c...See MoreNo idea what to do with this lamp, need help!
Comments (10)I'll add two more suggestions for you to try. It appears to me as if the sofa and chairs are a bit far apart. I would try pulling the sofa out from the wall and then moving the floor lamp back towards the wall and just a bit behind the sofa into that corner. The light would still shine over the shoulder of the person sitting on that end of the sofa. This positioning would also allow you to move the sofa slightly towards the window wall which would give the end table a bit more breathing room. My other suggestion is similar to my first one, but besides pulling the sofa out from the wall, I would angle it slightly so that the end table side is closest to the wall, but the lamp side is even more out into the room. In that scenario, I would probably put the floor lamp in the corner completely behind the sofa. Your rug and chairs could be rotated to maintain their parallel relationship with the sofa. I don't think you need a lamp on the side table by the sofa. If you must have one there for functionality, consider getting a completely different style so that you don't have to worry about shade height. I'm thinking something like this style....See MoreWhat would you do with this table? (pics) renofan? others?
Comments (10)Reno... I'm half tempted to send it to you because I know you would do something awesome with it!!! The effect you describe is what came to me after reading the first few posts here. Les... I had also thought about the distressed red idea. Good points are made here, though, about whether I should keep it at all. I guess somewhere I am hopeful that I can either make this house into one that I love or will move to another house in which this table will fit. I hate to give up the nicer things I have collected, but sometimes I suppose that makes sense. Case in point... the best furniture I own happens to be my Ethan Allen dining table and chairs. I love them. However, I have had to convert my little-used dining room into my office (pictured above) and with three little kids I hesitate to use the table in my kitchen, even though it would fit. So, for now it is kind of tucked into a corner of my living room and used as extra work space for DH and me. You can see it in this pic... My struggle is because I lived in my previous home for 5 years and spent the entire time making into exactly the home I wanted and loved. All furniture and accessories were purchased for that place. I finally had it exactly how I wanted it and we moved. Now, nothing seems to fit right. I'm "making do" with my things and waiting for a time when they will work again. Unfortunately, they are going out of style as I wait. I suppose I should be thankful that I ever had the home I wanted, be glad for my nice things, and quit whining, eh? LOL...See MoreWhat would you do in this FOYER space...without having a round table?
Comments (22)Would likely prefer twin cabinets rather than twin "dressers" -- it is a foyer rather than a bedroom. You could still add matching mirrors and lamps. https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Media-Bookshelves/featured/2031/subcat.html?featuredproduct=20543566&featuredoption=15590708&kid=9553000357392&track=pspla&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=17360261-000-000&cnc=US&cid=271143&type=pla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9ZSekYmu2wIVy16GCh06XAL4EAQYAiABEgJlgvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CIaf0paJrtsCFYnH4wcdJ4UHWw...See MoreKendrah
