How to remove Crackle paint

I have a fireplace that the original owners converted from a wood-burning FP to a gas log, and they did a cracked paint process with a brown mantel as well as the brown metal insert. Question. How can I properly remove this crackle product (from the mantle box only) the brown metal insert comes in a variety of spray paint colors that is sprayed on.The mantle material is not brick but either a very hard type of wood, or a plaster as you can see from a chip in one of the pillars in the photo below. Here are some pics. It’s pretty but I’m over the cracks look crackle look. Thank you!!

You may need to strip and sand it. But once you do, it will look so much better.

I would start by sanding an inconspicuous spot to see if you can get it flat. I see drips in the crackle paint that will need sanding; otherwise, you will see the drips in the new paint job.

I have never tried to strip crackle paint, but stripping paint off is tedious.

Any dots of paint should come off by lifting with a single-edge razor blade. Tiny atomized spatters or smears will come off with some 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper or a rubber sanding block, lubricated with paint thinner or water+detergent. If the old varnish is nice and thick you don't have to worry about sanding through the finish to bare wood. Pick off the big flecks, then abrade the mist/smears. Casey

I did not read many posts. Did anyone comment that your tiles look like there is a lavender cast to them? I see that especially when you have it up against some of the greenish grays above, like the "Light Pewter". It is not the direction I would take the paint. If you go with blackish vanity be sure it is not a greenish black, but one with more purple in the undertones, IMHO. I think the navy with a bit on the reddish side would look nice, not a tealish navy, again IMHO. with the walls I'd try a very light, white rendition of the vanity color. I think it will need to have a hint of lavender.

My husband and I bought a new home recently and we also had paint splatters on our LVP flooring and I use nail polish remove (100%) acetone to remove the paint and it worked nicely. I agree with you about a builder who has no care for detail. We are dealing with one too. We have dried glue on some planks and I have a hard time getting rid of the glue stained! I followed the manufacturer's advice how to clean it and still I cannot remove the glue stained. Not even the vinegar method worked. We called the floor installer many times and the manager said she would send someone to clean it but nothing from them for 1 month now.

I am not sure stripping chemicals will work on plaster of any kind. My guess would be a power sander and wearing a respirator and eye protection. Maybe a specialty primer as Hallet &co mentioned could fill and seal the crackle. Metal can be chemically stripped but used a spray paint made for high heat.
