Boscobel, a great David Austin rose
Comments (63)I don't have Boscobel own root (mine is grafted, too) and it shot out new basals the first two years. I didn't hard prune after that and it's just continued to bloom on these three massive basals. Maybe if I pruned more traditionally it would send more basals up. Compared to so many of the other Austins in my yard, Boscobel does not want to be a climbing rose with millions of basals. (Cough, cough, Emily Brönte, Benjamin Britton, Lady of Shalott.and so many more) I do have many own roots Austins direct from DA and all except Munstead Wood and Desdemona are HUGE in my garden. From what I've read, MW and Desdemona are known to stay more moderate sized. The other two that have stayed moderate so far are Lady Emma Hamilton and Jubilee Celebration, too....See MoreBoscobel is blooming
Comments (11)Caresmer- Yes, about 2 months but I also have 2 Austins planted the same time still waiting for the blooms. I’m working at home and have been checking on my new Austins constantly more than 3 times a day. Lol Halen- I will cut them and put them in a nice vase so I can enjoy them in the house. Thanks...See MoreMy night blooming cactus is in full bloom

Comments (20)@forever_a_newbie_VA8 - I think you have a different rose there -- Raspberry Cream Twirl?. Raspberry Cupcake is just out this year, I believe. @Desert Rose (10a Sunset 19) - so glad you picked up the Raspberry Cupcake! It was great seeing you there -- even if I was in my grubbies and hoping NOT to see anyone! ;-) I grew Heirloom years ago (died in the Tea Fire, and I didn't re-plant). It smelled delightful, and it was pretty. I think it bloomed a fair amount. I think I just got tired of it. I'm growing Perfume Factory now, but it's new to me -- planted from a 1 gallon o/r I got from Heirloom Roses last fall. First bloom was pretty and very fragrant. I think I'll like it. I think Love Song beats all the lavenders for form and health, though. I grew Boscobel and it was super healthy and bloomed a lot. I just didn't love the bit of salmon-y/coral in its coloring, so gave it to a ffriend who still thinks I'm crazy for letting it go. I gave away Dee-Lish because the color didn't do it for me -- but it smelled lovely. I think your Raspberry Cupcakes will do well for you!...See More
