Ive seen them and gotten mine off of ebay. Unfortunately mine has no pups yet because it was leveled to the ground by something. It tried to grow back but then died to the ground. The roots are still alive and firm so I have hope that it will return, but I dont think Ill be seeing pups this summer. Good luck!

I'm already seeing signs that my regular attack of mites is in full swing already, even though my humidity is high by Michigan indoor winter standards, and perhaps if you don't have lots of plants which will create their own humidity of a sorts, if there are lots of them, nor a humidifier, your humidity is probably too low and hence with the less than ideal growing condtitions, those pups have decided to stop growing at this point since the mother plant is readjusting to the indoor conditions etc. I'd not remove the pups just now unless you're sure they have some roots of their own started , perhaps below the soil line, and when planted outdoors in the tropics they're allowed to grow into sizeable clumps from the pictures I've seen. Time to get a humidifier if you don't already have one and to drag out the "Safers" soap and start spraying I guess. Best of luck with your efforts and that's one plant I'd like to try, though I must say if you have a good light set-up you're farther ahead than I am with my limited gro-lite setup. They do need good light if they're to be kept growing all winter , but it seems they may be variety that can go dormant if they're outdoors in marginally cold areas, and will come back from the roots if the tops get frosted. I guess they're so hardy they can almost be left in the ground through the winter, though the tops will die back, and will come up from the roots in the spring, provided you live in an area that doesn't get frozen ground. They're considered somewhat hardy as far winter temperatures are concerned, and your's may look a bit shabby through the winter with less than summery conditions, but should improve come springtime. I know it hurts to see those summer plants go into their winter slumps indoors, but as long as the mites don't do too much damage it should survive.

These are prone to scale. When I had one in St. Bernard, I just kept it as airy as possible. In other words, I selectively pruned out branches (thinning, not heading back cuts) so it would have some air. I also removed the scale insects by hand (some are too squeamish for this) and got rid of them. I also gardened organically and invited birds and beneficials into my yard. You can spray with a horticultural oil, you must get the parts with scale, including underside of leaves. This smothers the scale. Make sure you read label directions becoz temperature is a factor. You may have to do a couple or 3 applications, weeks apart, as new ones hatch. Again, read label. Hort. oil is considered to be one of the less toxic products. Laurie
