I only have one other big pot---an old black kettle for soap making/outdoor cooking----and it is full of blue lobelias, white geraniums, and red with white eye geraniums for the red white and blue spot. I removed the 2 orange Gerberas from the 12" pot and put them up in a brick flower box where I am doing more orange yellow and purple theme stuff------Spanish Eyes Thunbergia with Purple Cathedral Bells growing on a trellis----lots of purple Allysum, African daisies[orange, yellow, and white], and purple petunias. I left just the yellow Gerbera with the 2 Purple w/yellow eyes million bells in the 12 inch pot. Hope it will be okay. It is a very deep pot [actually an old brown ceramic type pipe about a yard tall]. I think that I am going to love Gerberas too. :-] Thanks, Aunt Lou

It should be hardy where you are w/o protection. Put it on the north side of the house up against the foundation & mulch a little. Make sure you toss some snow on the container from time to time to keep roots from drying completely if Mother Nature seems attentively lax in that regard. Al

Creeping phlox, Phlox subulata, is extremely cold hardy, down to zone 2. I doubt you have much to worry about regarding its ability to overwinter in your container. I'd be more concerned about the ability of the container itself to withstand any freezing winter temperatures. If this is an issue, moving the pot into an unheated garage or similar facility that would avoid the moisture and temperature extremes that could cause the container to freeze and crack would be in order. Light is not an issue over winter as the plant is dormant but you would want to check that the soil does not dry out excessively. Keep it just barely moist.

I'm not familiar w/ the Marguerite, but I have a patch of Blackfoot Daisies that comes back every year. And every year is lovelier than the last! It does self-seed, but very slowly so not invasive. I have mine out in the H*** Strip where the concrete all around keeps it nice and toasty. I do water it everyday when it gets REAL hot, but otherwise don't do anything but cut it back a bit in the fall. It is blooming now and will bloom til Fall. I personally love this plant and get lots of compliments on it! I started out with two or three 4" pots and it is now a nice mound of white daisies! I'll post a photo later, can't find them now.
