There’s a special stuff for screws called Lock Tite which you can squirt on the threads before you tighten them. But once it’s on, you’ll need special Lock Tite dissolver to get it off.

Not sure what's happening without a picture. It could be the hole is stripped if it's just screw in. That can be fixed with a wooden toothpick.

Or if you really want it fixed, drill the hole all the way through and counter sink it and add a washer and a nut on the inside of the drawer to hold it tight.

Is it possible someone used the wrong sized screw and you need a different size?

Colleen - I assume by ”to get it off” you mean to clean off the threads? You don’t need anything but your regular tools to loosen a screw held with blue locktite. Need a torch for red, but she’d use blue.

But I agree with Annie, it’s not clear if we’re talking wood screws or machine screws here.

Wood screws would only be used with wooden drawer handles/knobs.

Are the drawer handles wooden? Plastic? Metal? Do they have two screws or just one? All of this makes a difference.

If the drawer handles are metal, then Loctite, as recommended by Colleen would secure them, but then they would be difficult to remove later. If they have one screw instead of two, then they are probably pulls instead of handles.

Teflon tape wrapped around the screw will help it stay tight. Much easier to remove from the screw if necessary.

Do you use your fingers to tighten the nut, or use a tool? If you're using your fingers, maybe using pliers or a wrench to tighten it would help.

I'd probably use a toothpick/bamboo skewer and a bit of wood glue - or a larger diameter screw/bolt.

That’s not a stripped screw it’s a nut coming loose. A split washer or other lock washer could work, too.

Is that a reply to me? I'm thinking it's the hole that's stripped - too big for the screw/bolt.

It's a little confusing, since I see both a wood screw and a bolt in the photos.

I use a screwdriver and pliers too which helps it stay tight for a while but it loosens up again over time. I think I'll try loctite. Thanks!

Yes there are two different drawers with two different screws that are coming loose

Can't use a larger screw, because the screw also needs to fit the knob.

If Loctite doesn't work, I have had success with the toothpick/wood glue trick.

Wood glue keeps if you seal it back shut, and proves useful over time for various loosening bits on furniture.

Do the wooden knobs have threaded inserts? Most knobs have metal inserts that accept machine screws not wood screws. If not, I’ve used Mr. Grip strips available at Amazon or hardware stores. They are grippy metal strips that you cut a small piece of and stick in the hole enabling the screw to tighten. The other knobs also don’t appear to be using machine screws either.

I would replace the wooden knobs with metal ones. I did this on one dresser I have that came with wooden knobs, and that solved the problem.

Could you give the knob a twist occasionally, or when things seem to be getting loose again?
