I mostly agree with Alana about Edith Schurr that it doesn't wow me, but it has its interests and it's a fairly undemanding little rose. Most of the time it's off-white but it can have a cream or yellow center at times. It doesn't fade very nicely, as is true for most cream roses, but the form is interesting though certainly not high centered. Here it is with as much color as I see on this rose: And here's more what it looks like typically: I liked the funky ruffled bud this particular bloom had. All in all, it reblooms about an average amount for its site, at least last year it did (this was a disappointing rose year surprisingly, given our mild winter). Now Folksinger, that IS a rose to write home about! Large totally tip hardy bush that branches well and blooms almost nonstop with fluffy blush apricot blooms. The blooms also look scruffy when they age, but that's expected with that color range. It blooms so often you're deadheading frequently all summer. Sammy, Take It Easy would be great in front of the house. It quickly grows tall and the light colored reverse makes the blooms extra showy. Dense foliage has been very healthy here despite our high temps (90's May to October) and humidity. Ours are two years old and probably unlike many shrubs are taller than they are wide.

@vaporvac - not sure if they are completely dead yet. But they look mighty sad. I did plant them deep, so there is the hope of growth from below. It's not just the kordes though, it's everything else too - carruths, meillands, etc. I just had heard so many things about Kordes hardiness that I was shocked to see them dead to the ground. Poisedon, Cherry Lady (aka. fiji) & Summer Sun look terrible. However, Rosanna has buds starting on her lower canes already. But I will get out this week and start pruning away & see what happens. The austins have at least a few inches to a foot above the ground & the canadian roses have plenty of green. I do want to make a proper list of the roses that have some good starting cane left though for records. I was surprised to see a lot of green on Bolero & Wild Blue Yonder.

Should say Queen of Elegance....can't believe I typed that....too many senior moments lately! Vapor - Jasmina has never had much cane, seems like if she puts out a new one an old one dies back. But I've been tying and propping all my roses over and over all winter and spring. A lot of high winds but also a lot of growth because of no winter dieback. I can't remember about the cleaning but will find out very soon! I have Laguna that needs deadheaded now and that takes a good day and a quart of blood.
