Comments (5)I planted so many flowers this year! I still can't believe I bought so many! It started out with the Butterfly bush two years ago. When I saw how many butterflies came I was amazed! So I started to look them up and that was pretty much it for me! I went for a walk to find Milkweed and found cats on it and I was hooked.. So far I planted or purchased Zinnas(which I love now) Daylilies,Lavender,5 Milkweed plants,Columbine,Blanketflower, Sneezeweed, Tickseed, Daisies, Nasturiums,Plantain, Petunias, Phlox- A couple of Dill and Fennel plants, Purple Coneflowers, and two wildflower baskets, they have different types of whatever in them. I got a lot of my seed from Edith from Florida, she owns the Butterfly farm I believe.. I also bought another Butterfly Bush too and planted it on the side of my house, then I built a garden around it~ Yesterday I went back to see what else they had and I picked up Parsley and more Milkweed. I was surprised that they had Dutchmans' Pipe there. It had a big write up on it about the Pipevine Swallowtails laying eggs on it. I didn't think we had them in PA?! I also picked up a ton of Sunflower seeds and they are all growing nicely. So I think I am ready for the butterflies to say the least...I just enjoy them so much that I want them around more. Plus it helps that I love flowers and gardening.. Sorry for the long post~ Aggie...See MorePlease name some easy to grow tall plants
Comments (14)I have a baby butterfly bush which will be planted on the other side of the house in the Fall, so the bees and such won't be in my way. lol. We have two huge pink crepe myrtle that are taller than the house. We have way too many wild sunflowers here. I'm sick of them. lol. Cosmos are definitely on my list! The other plants mentioned I've never heard of except Verbena. When I worked in a greenhouse years ago I remember planting many of their seeds. I'll look them up. Here's a picture of the Crepe Myrtle from last year, they're getting ready to bloom again....See Morewow..so whats the best way to start growing big plants
Comments (9)oh my god.. =: i looked at that HTV thing and skimmed through it.. that's so insane having to use a quilt for your 983791827396lb pumpkin and vacuuming ur cabbage!! pretty much everything i've tried to grow has died. i killed the worm farm i had in the 6th grade, my succulents turned red and fell apart, all my ferns shrivelled up within about a week. i think the only thing that actually grew was a carrot that seeded by accident in the middle of our lawn lol @$%#^?*!! my god.. right now, having a pumpkin grow to 2lb would be a notable achievement. what do you have to do to like first off not kill everything you touch, and then make it grow to a completely insane size? =\!!!!...See MoreNeat way to grow tomatoes
Comments (13)This is how I made my bags Carol. For example if you wanted to make a 13 3/4" x 12" window box pot/bag, you will add 2 inches to the width(13 3/4) and double the length. Measure out the dimensions and using chalk your pot and cut it out. Next fold your material in half lengthwise(which will be 12"),and sew the sides with a blanket stitch, or straight stitch on a sewing machine or by hand. Pull apart the sides that you just stitched to make a little triangle on the bottom. Sew 1" from the ends keeping the triangle shape. Turn the bag inside out and either the top edge or just fold it down and let it be. Cut 2-3 holes for drainage. You can add hardware cloth(chicken wire) to the bottom to keep soil from escaping and to give it more shape, but the pot will stand on it's own without it....See More- 2 months agolast modified: 2 months ago
