HAVE: Sept. 27, Jupiter Farms Plant Swap,
Comments (150)I have a few more items worth listing Ipomoea coccinea or scarlet morning glory. A favorite of hummingbirds and listed as a native on the IFAS publication at the link below. Warning is does reseed readily if seeds not removed. Dies back in summer. New plants pop up in Fall. Also I have several white containers some glazed some not. I am collecting green containers especially the old time planters. Anyone interested in the white? anyone have green? Comments (44)Chiming in late - planning to come with all I can manage, but this year's swap comes after a very busy week. Please be sure to let me know if you especially want any of these things, since I doubt I'll manage to bring them all! hostas (quite a few different types, unlabelled) fig cuttings from great Greek variety (not rooted) COLUMBINES (aguilegia) lots, mostly pale lilac, some darker daffodils (mostly yellow, also white with orange centers) French tarragon (Artemisia dracanculus) (up to 4 divisions) dill seedlings (Anethum graveolens) 1 ornamental sage I have the following, and would be happy to try carefully digging some for trades, but am not certain they will survive transplant borage (Borago officinalis) poppies river birch seedlings (Betula negra) I have lots of these, but will not bring them unless someone asks for some: periwinkle (vinca) St John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) ferns of unknown variety I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again! Comments (8)Tammy, You are so good with plants to have had all that success! I wonder if we are still doing this swap in the fall. I will try to remember what I had luck with. I should have kept a list. I have one kiwi that made it, the dragonfruit is still alive(although it is still about the size it was when it arrived), the Yukon Gold potato was a big success. Blue potato grew a few potatoes that were large enough to eat - mixed in with some grocery store ones when we ate them or else there never would have been enough, but it was fun to see what they look like! The other potatoes grew into plants, but if any potatoes at all, they were just tiny ones about a size that would fit in a teaspoon. I know someone sent some herb cuttings and those made it. A willow and pussy willow managed to get roots but died after a few weeks. This has not been one of my better years for getting plants to root and I don't know why. Seems like the weather has been more agreeable than most summers. I have taken cuttings from my own plants every few weeks and those have not been rooting either, so just an odd year. Comments (70)Hooray, Sherry, I knew you were going to cave in and plant agarden eventually. IT comes with the canning! Jessica, I didn't have very good luck with the golden beets either, although I did get about a dozen big enough to eat. I'm wondering if they are "particular" about temperature or soil type. My Detroit dark reds were planted in the same row and did just fine. Hmmmm, you know how I am with a challenge, I might have to plant some again, I had beet "chips" at a restaurant over my birthday and of course, I just loved the darned things, they were deepfried. Sigh. Golden beet fries might make a nice color contrast.... I couldn't find any of those sungolds, and I was disappointed. Dang, I just love those things! Annie...See MoreDorian W
