Hog peanut seed pods

I’m growing a potted American hog peanut plant (Amphicarpaea bracteata)

from an underground (cleistogamous flower) seed. I was surprised to notice several seed pods growing on the upper stems of the plant, which has not produced any chasmogamous flowers yet which could have been pollinated. It was my understanding that the pods, with one to four seeds in them, were produced by the upper chasmogamous flowers, and the cleistogamous flowers occurred at the base of the plant, to eventually produce underground pea-like seeds. Can anyone explain why there are seed pods developing on the upper plant, apparently from tiny cleistogamous flowers?
