OT~ Off to Surgery
Comments (49)Sorry to cut off my up-date post so quickly, but I had a sudden wave of nausea so I ate some toast and laid back down again :O This a.m. I am still in some pain and my stomach is still the size of a basketball from swelling...part of which is due to left over CO2. I received 4 incisions vs just 3 and not sure why. Am currently eating a little oatmeal to get a little more bulk in my stomach before taking another "happy pill" :). Since surgery all I've consumed is toast and juice in recovery and jello and toast last night....a lot of water and 7up too. Doc said I should be up and doing what I was doing before surgery, but I don't even closely see that just yet LOL! I can hardly stand straight, but yesterday evening before checking in with you all, I toted around my small watering can giving a drink to Mondays planted out seedlings, container flower plantings and in-ground carrots. If I'm feeling froggy this afternoon I'll get to the container cucumbers and peppers just outside the door. We will be up in the 90's from Saturday thru Monday, but I think by the morning of Friday I should be able to tote around my hoses and sprinkler. Thanks again all for the extended wishes, Lovin' ya, Vera...See MoreReally off-topic!
Comments (6)Oh my, Phil!! I'm so glad the surgery has gone well for you and I'll pray it continues to go as well, in your recovery! I was up for gall-bladder surgery in 2000, but opted to wait it out and so far, I'm okay but know I may have to one day so it's good to hear you are doing so well! Yes, these bodies weren't designed for 'Eternity' but I know that whereas the 'trade-in' value won't be much, the newer model will be lot better, as promised!!LOL I dreamed, last night, that I have Leukemia and was having to tell an old best-friend about it, who was freaking out! She and I don't share in having the same beliefs, and I was trying to assure her, that whereas I don't relish the 'process' of dying from Leukemia I am very confident that 'death' will only make it possible to be in Heaven, and that part I do not fear, at all--thankfully! It's weird how dreams affect us, I still feel like it was so real!!! And, I'm also glad that as real as it seemed, I still had perfect peace about my diagnosis and prognosis--and I did not wake up feeling 'stressed' by the dream! Keep on keeping on Phil--"it ain't over till it's over" and I hope you have as much time as you need before you take advantage of your 'reservation'!! :o)...See MoreSort off off topic - help with possible nutrient deficiencies
Comments (12)My plumaria expert says that blossom booster or anything with such a high middle number is useless. In fact some of the threads by Al will agree. I use "Dynamite" 13 13 13...Even numbers right across the board. In fact most plants don't like such a high middle number, because your throwing the abilty off for the whole plant to be healthy, even the colors of the leaves by forcing flowers on your plants when you don't have to. How come plumies flower from the ground outdoors withou someone throwing so much middle number on them? In the ground, they are getting an even amount of nutriets to sustain over look, vigour, and health. I will send you an excert of why the middle number is useless. The "dynamite" has worked wonders for me. It is slow release along with micro nutrients and a well balanced fert. Just some excerts... "Whatever nutrients are available in excess, will be absorbed by the plant to a certain degree, and in some cases, this may lead to toxicity or even symptoms of shortages of other nutrients as toxicity levels block a plant's ability to take up other nutrients. Too much nitrogen will lead to excessive foliage production and less flowering. Too much potassium or phosphorus will not lead to ill effect, but will show up as a deficiency of other nutrients as it blocks uptake". "What about the "Bloom Booster" fertilizers you might ask? To induce more prolific flowering, a reduced N supply will have more and better effect than the high P bloom formulas. When N is reduced, it slows vegetative growth without reducing photosynthesis. Since vegetative growth is limited by a lack of N, and the photosynthetic machinery continues to turn out food, it leaves an expendable surplus for the plant to spend on flowers and fruit". "The fact that different species of plants grow in different types of soil where they are naturally found, does not mean that one needs more of a certain nutrient than the other. It just means that the plants have developed strategies to adapt to certain conditions, like excesses and deficiencies of particular nutrients.." "Most greenhouse operations will follow pretty closely to a 2-1-2 ratio of the primary macro-nutrients on most greenhouse crops with minor deviations based on tissue analysis and the effect of the growing medium. Most post-greenhouse fertilization will follow fairly closely to a 3-1-2 ratio, with some deviation. Again, this very closely mimics the range of the primary macros found in plant tissues". Read the thread......type in search.... "Fertilizer Program - Containerized Plants (Long Post) very imformative article". I never use blosson booster, and all my plants flower Profusely.... Hope this helps and greens up the leaves along with giving you nice flowers next time around..:-) Mike...See Moreway way way off topic ....
Comments (8)I have no suggestions. I am the one with the headphones on avoiding all the bodily function noises and humming and chomping that goes on in my dept. Never the one that speaks up. BUT something came to mind. You say she lost a lot of weight? My sister takes phentermine (a prescription diet drug) and it gives her extreme dry mouth. To the point of when she talks her lips sometimes get 'stuck' on her teeth because her mouth is SO dry and she often has bad breath. 1. From smoking and 2. The dry mouth. If she is on medication that cause dry mouth, that might be your answer to 'why'? Also if she drinks coffee with cream, smokes .. That adds to it. Do you think she is actually brushing her teeth in the mornings? I used to be in the dental field lol you guys don't laugh ... Dental to accountant .. Lol ok anyway - if she has severe sinus issues, she will have bad breath.. Notice any sneezing, coughing or complaints about sinus issues? She may not even realize it's effecting her. My ex often did not brush his teeth at bedtime. He would fall asleep in the recliner and then shuffle half asleep to the bedroom, strip and fall in the bed... I had to start saying, 'let's get ready for bed before we turn the tv on' and then I would brush my teeth and he would follow my example. Not the same situation but wondering of she brushed during the day if that would help. I brush at work because I try to keep myself from drinking too much coffee or snacking... So I brush and gargle twice sometimes three times a day. A few ladies liked the 'smell' of my fresh clean mouth just walking in to the room so they asked, 'do you brush at work?'. Why yes. Yes I do. And so now several of us are 'work' brushers... I second the go to the HR dept if that doesn't work, maybe just take her away quietly or step outside. I did have to confront someone about something embarrassing once and she was actually quite grateful. Granted it wasn't her breath but it was her perfume. I was sneezing all day and because I was miserable I finally just said 'hey can I talk to you for a minute? I love your perfume but I think I'm allergic to it' and she was like omg! Everyone has been sneezing and I thought you guys just had colds... Thank you sooo much for telling me how embarrassing. She just switched and didn't wear as much. Good luck and Hey be sure to let us know what you do and how it turns out...See MoreMaryl (Okla. Zone 7a)
