carpet tiles as area rug on carpet?
Comments (3)I can't imagine the carpet tiles ever laying flat or in place. Why not just pull up the carpet and laying the tile like they were intended?...See MoreBest type of rug for under kitchen table?
Comments (11)the style is functional at our house on this topic. I have a cold kitchen floor and the same in the dining room which is part of the kitchen. We have castor chairs at the table and to roll up to the table, I put an office carpet in gray with the rubber backing which is easy to rollup on off without budging the rug. This is a busy house with 3 sloppy kids and it has seen plenty of abuse and shows nothing. In my cold kitchen I got a $10 indoor- outdoor carpet in gray from menards when they go on sale, and put it down with dbl stick tape. It covers all but about a foot around the edges. This room has a lot of traffic. The tape was a must. The whole family appreciates it even the cats, and the only thing it shows is when my dtr dumped an entire lemon merienge pie upside down on it- and if I'd get my rug shampooer over to this house I'd have that gone. If not $10 and I have a new one!...See MoreHow/where do I order a custom-sized area rug?
Comments (17)From what you describe as your needs, to survive children & peta, I would get high quality carpeting bound as an area rug. That is what I am doing as i want the carpet to be able to be removed for deep cleaning. Am going with Smartstrand, best price I am finding is at the big boxes. https://www.mohawkflooring.com/flooring/carpet/brand/smartstrand/ http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2365927/mohawk-smartstrand-carpet...See MoreHow much does roll carpet weigh
Comments (10)Mary Elizabeth, thanks for the bending concern...logistic issues are the things that I need help with. I have a modern condo in historic romanesque building, with a small-ish elevator, so anything >8ft needs to go up the stairs. I think I'm going to hire movers, - they got my 12 x 3 x 200 lb leather sofa up the stairs so they likely can handle a unbendable rug....There are 2 stairs so I may send them up the larger one to be safe. The space isn't giant, but is larger than 12x45, those are just the dimensions for the area rug. It's an open living/bedroom/kitchen space with 15h x 40L windows, not in, but under a turret, so I'm looking to keep a the space continuous as much as possible, while considering access. Yvonne, I wish I could have it in a simple bound, but the need for the area rug came up unexpectedly and I'm not going to spend the money on this project. I will keep that in mind though. It's a large and unique space, so everything I've done has had to be large and custom, and can completely empty my pocket book. Thanks for all your help and ideas, I'm so grateful for all your consideration!!!...See MoreAmy Peltier Interior Design & Home
