New Begonia needs ID
Comments (4)Do you think it could possibly be Wild Pony? It was tagged "Plum Paisley", which it obviously isn't, but this same place had Wild Pony at one time. This was the only begonia they presently had, and I've never seen Wild Pony in person, so I was just wondering......See MoreNew begonias - ID and care plans needed
Comments (2)The cane begonia looks like 'Little Miss Mummey' and the other one definitely looks like soli-mutata. Being in Tampa should make it easy to grow begonias. I think dappled shade would be good for both in your location. Morning sun would probably be okay too as long as the plants are acclimated to it. I move my canes to the periphery of the tree edges so they get slanted sun. Not sure about the drowning part but if it works for your other cane begonia I guess it might work for this one. B. soli-mutata requires a lot of humidity so you shouldn't have a problem with it outdoors. Mine is thriving in the basement with a dome cover. Without the cover indoors it starts getting brown edges and quits growing. I can move it outdoors for summer without any extra humidity (I'm around the Atlanta area)....See MoreNeed ID of this begonia please
Comments (2)Hi & welcome to Gardenweb. Have you tried searching "white Begonia?" That seems a less common flower color from what little I've seen of them, might help narrow it down a bit. Most people use a free photo hosting site to share pics here. These forums do allow users to upload a tiny picture in only the beginning post on some of the forums. There's Flickr, Photobucket, Imageshack, to name a few if you'd like to give it a try. Ends up being a great way to collect your pictures for future reference, too....See Moreneed help to ID plants... newbie to begonias
Comments (14)The one I showed above was bought at Harmony Foliage with Mr. Begonia (last year's ABS president) telling me the names as I was labeling everything. What can I say? I just go with the flow... That seems to be the problem with names in begonias (and everything else) - someone drops a tag and sticks it in another pot or you can't read someone's writing or everything is labeled rex begonia. If only someone would come out with a definitive book on (fill in the blanks here) Check out the international database of begonias for Muddy Waters. Ignore the 3rd photo since it is the one I just posted above. Begonia IDB of Muddy Waters...See Morelittle_bee
