Benjamin Moore Aura Bath & Spa Actually Scrubbable

I am looking to see if anyone knows how scrubbable / cleanable Benjamin Moore's Aura Bath and Spa actually is. I know it is advertised as such but I want to see if anyone has put that to the test. Or if it doesn't hold up to scrubbing, is there another high humidity paint that does?

Very scrubbable! I love this paint! We have two bathrooms painted in it--one that was done nine years ago and one that was done last year. The one done nine years ago is used by two messy kids and gets tons of scrubbing. (I am at a loss as to how anyone can possibly get that much toothpaste on the wall...) It was also a bathroom that had mildew issues before we repainted in Bath and Spa (despite having a good fan) and they haven't recurred since then.

Yeah that is most likely surfactant leaching if the drips are sort of brownish. You need to let the paint dry completely before showering or shower with the door open and make sure you use your fan. You may actually get more leaching with Aura because the colorants are waterborne so try your best to keep moisture off the walls while the paint cures which can take up to a month. Also, you may want to make sure your fan is the proper size for your bathroom and that it is functioning properly. Many builders throw the cheapest fans that barely meet code in their bathrooms.

I've been using Aura since it came out. I am not a professional painter but repaint my rooms frequently. I do love Aura in any room but bathrooms. I have used it in 2 different houses, and painted in 4 different bathrooms in 2007, 2008, 2012. Each of the bathrooms has proper ventilation and the exhaust fan is always used when showering. All of the walls were properly cleaned before painting. In every bathroom where it was used, the paint has streaks. Some of these can be "washed" off but re-appear soon again. Do a search on Aura paints and you will see this is a wide-spread problem in bathroom use. I will continue to use it in other rooms but no more bathrooms!

New house, high ceiling in kitchen, lots of windows, concrete floors, no trim, oak and sapelle woods. In Seattle area (Whidbey Island), so cloudy. Painting in BM white christmas (slight gray/blue) throughout, and pearl river (gray/blue/violet) in upper den that has wood flooring. A walkout basement studio area will be super white or chantilly lace. I plan to do the ceiling color the same as the room wall color, in each room. I was going to do eggshell, because designers seem to think matte finishes will look dingy over time and difficult to clean, whereas eggshell will last longer. In using most white and light grey with a high LRV (75-88), now I am wondering if it's better to use the eggshell to give the white a little brightness with some light reflective qualities. Anyone think that the Aura matte finish in whites look pasty, bland or blah? I will be using Aura paint and see they now have an Aura spa paint for bathrooms and its in a matte finish! Do people use matte when its rich deep color and an eggshell for whites? I did see that the pigment concentration in the matte and eggshell is high, 47+.

Have you tried the Aura? It’s a matte paint and I actually don’t like it in our bathroom - all the splashes are very visible after drying out (we have the same issue with regular Aura matte in the powder room). We’re about to remodel and I’m doing eggshell Regal Select in the bathrooms instead since that never gave me issues. We have semi-gloss Advance on our doors and trim everywhere and it is fantastic - tough as nails and looks as good as 2.5 years ago even though we have a dog and toddler trying their best to mess it up.

Benjamin Moore's Aura Bath and Spa paint is advertised as scrubbable, but real-life experiences speak volumes. Hopefully, someone here has put it to the test! Back to the paint topic, if Aura Bath and Spa doesn't hold up, I've heard good things about other high humidity paints like Sherwin-Williams Duration Home. Maybe someone here has firsthand experience with that too.

Can only say that we still haven’t had mildew issues return to the original bathroom going on ten years, and still haven’t managed to scrub the color off (not for lack of trying!) Still highly recommend.
