Need Advice on Climbing Rose Choice for Trellis

Jim Mac

I am in central new jersey. I have a tall trellis I want to add a climbing rose bush. Need some help with selection.

I would like a very disease resistant choice. I am replacing a rose vine that I have struggled with black spots and fungus.

I would prefer something white, with roses that last. I was looking at Claire Austin rose but it seems the flowers don't last long. I love the look of Arborose Honeymoon.

Would like something fragrant (this is not a must have)

Needs to be about 8 to 10 feet in length

The trellis gets lots of direct sun and water

Any advice on rose selection would be greatly appreciated. Also thinking of getting it in the ground in September so it can settle in for the winter and tart strong in the spring. Is that a good idea?
