Soil for outdoor carnivorous plants

I have a yellow trumpet pitcher and a purple pitcher. I can post pics tomorrow.

I wanted to build a bog for them next to my pond, using a 9 gallon stiff liner. I'd read a tutorial before that placed lava rock in the bottom, then a nursery pot in the middle, then surrounded it with soil. You then kept the nursery pot full of water to ensure that the soil stayed wet.

Any suggestions on how to make my own soil without breaking the bank?

I'm finding pitcher plant soil on Amazon for $10-15 per quart! That would be at least $360 in soil to fill the container :-O

Maybe a blend of peat moss and perlite? I already have a bag of perlite just sitting around, so maybe this for $27?
