Need a little advice on Carex 'Feather Falls'

I have no experience with Carexes of any type, but I planted 'Feather Falls' last spring and it grew beautifully through the season. It's supposed to be evergreen, but we had minus 5 around Christmas and 5 the following night, and at least one more night in Jan. near zero though most of the 'winter' has not been winter at all. The foliage is quite "burned" in many places (and a little nibbled by rabbits who have apparently not read the latest books on proper diet) and I'm wondering if the best thing to do is to cut the whole thing back and fertilize lightly.

Any thoughts by people with experience with evergreen carexes?

Thanks.
