Native pet friendly alternatives to Boxwoods?

Joe Kollar
last year

These are 3 large, square shaped boxwoods that act like a hedge.
They get full sun in NE Ohio, look great, and take a heck of a beating from 2 large dogs sometimes chasing each other through the gaps. I'm looking to replace them with natives.
At first, I thought one of our Hollies, but our dog would eat the toxic berries. I recognize I could get only males or females, but wanted to keep looking. Does anyone have any suggestions that could do well in this situation?
Thanks in advance.
