Lol, well you didn't either! I already said it looked like places had Hilda Niblett, but I don't want Hilda, I want the white one, which I don't see. And many places that say they have Hilda, are actually out of stock anyway. Although, I do think I found the name of the white one - think she is Olga Niblett. I'll try searching specifically for her.

And I had already seen that link to donald hyatt - that site gives information but no places to buy. Maybe I'll have some luck now that I know Olga's name lol.

Yes, I like the original azaleas. I have Pink Pearl. I cannot grow the ones from Mobile, Alabama, but although pretty, I do not like the Encore that is the only thing I can find.

Old thread but was never really fully answered. Older, classic varieties like the Glenn Dales and Robin Hills and are becoming harder to find these days except for the 10 or so mass produced for big box stores and the remaining surviving 'local nurseries'. And "inside sales professionals" encourage their brokers (HD & Lowes especially) to buy newer, trademarked cultivars that yield them more profit, even though they might not really be long term, proven garden performers!

The nearest nursery I would be sure has them in production is White's Nursery in Maryland. Sorry, a long ways away and I don't think they ship plants. But Broken Arrow in CT should at least be able to give you a lead on where to find them in New England. Also try Weston in MA. They are one of the last remaining prestige nurseries in the eastern half of the country.

As you probably guessed I have not found any yet. I did purchase a Perfecto Mundo pink azalea last fall but can't really evaluate that yet. I actually thought it was dead this spring but it has very slowly come back to life and is still leafing out. No blooms. And it was a small mail-order baby to begin with so it's still small.

I should definitely check with Broken Arrow. I used to make at least one if not two yearly trips there but the last few years life has gotten in the way of my gardening lol. But they have actually gotten plants in from other nurseries for me so they may be worth a shot.

It just seems like anything I look at, while it may have the size and shape I'd like, there's nothing that has those huge gorgeous blooms. Years into growing my Nibletts my breath was taken away every single spring when they bloomed. I never stopped being amazed by those blooms. I guess my other option is to give up on the pink or white and go with Hilda. I don't necessarily dislike the color, just like the pink or white better - it fits better with my garden scheme.
